Our gameplan was very clear (alas a bit boring and 'negative') and we executed it absolutely fine. Three points are ours if we had a competent goalie playing.

Leicester passed it about nice enough but our defence were absolutely solid and they created very little openings. A very organised defensive display completely let down by a disastrous, unreliable goalkeeper.

Agreed mate - sadly seems like Carlo has some misplaced loyalty towards him.
Dont no why?
It's like when we had Lawson and Davies , everybody in the ground could see the problem , we had decent players badly let town by piss poor keepers.
It cost us the league then and it could cost us Europe now.
Pickford has been going down hill for the last 2 years he isnt going to get better.

It’s a tough gig at home when I’m deciding between Keane and Godfrey for MOTM. I honestly didn’t see anything from Digne first 20 mins of 2nd half , such a waste no wonder we were getting overrun in midfield. In the end we got a point against a better team and DCL could have stolen it for us so it nearly came off. Would love to have a conversation along the lines of “ Carlo why did we play that way?” ,

It was, only for Pickford.
Ahh mate, defenders defended brilliantly, but it was all last ditch throw your body at the ball stuff. We cant sustain that for 90mins without being lucky.
I think even the side we had out tonight are a very decent side but we sat back and allowed leicester to swarm us for probably 70mins and due to our shape offered nothing going forward for most of the game.
I realise we couldve won it at the end through Dom, richy or andre but it was too little too late.
I just dont see other 'top 6' contenders play like this and rely on bags of luck at home.

Me too. Makes no sense. "He's a good shot stopper". Isn't that the absolute minimum requirement of a goalkeeper? He's a genuine liability. All keepers make mistakes that cost points but pickford is consistent in it.
He’s a terrible shot stopper tho been saying it for ages. What he is good at is reaction saves from close range. I am surprised more teams don’t just hit long shots at him because when he has to think about making a save he struggles. The sooner he is out of the team the better.

We’ve been doing ok lately, but for a while I’m not to convinced by us. Bar games like against sheff wed, we are grinding out results with not particularly good play. I know I should be grateful because we have moved on since the Silva days, but I really am starting to expect more than how we are performing. Leeds, west ham, Rotherham we were very poor tonight we weren’t great, I know we have players missing and having them does help but I still feel there a spark missing somewhere.

Playing Tim Howard for two seasons too long to.'......

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti to BBC Sport:
I'm happy with the draw. The result is fair. We had an opportunity at the end to win but the result is fair. It’s a good point for us.

"They are a good team. We defended well. We could have had more control of the ball.

"Spirit is good. Condition is good. We are in the right way. Everywhere, unpredictable results."

On James Rodriguez scoring with his right foot: "Surprise. I don’t remember him scoring with his right foot before. It was really fantastic."

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti, speaking to BT Sport:
It was a tough game. I thought we defended more than we attacked, we did quite well and it's a good point.

"We didn't have the control that we wanted when they equalised, the game was more in their control but the point was fair.

"It wasn't that we defended too deep, it was the fact we didn't quite have the quality after they equalised.

"I said two weeks ago this is an unpredictable league, unbelievable. There are good games and hard games - we played against Sheffield United, who are at the bottom, and had problems. It's a really exciting Premier League."

On Jordan Pickford: "This is not the right place to talk about this. He can do better but it doesn't matter."

On James Rodriguez's goal: "It was unbelievable. We're not used to seeing him score with the right!"

Its been a fantastic season so far. I think we are performing above where we should be for the sqaud, we are particularly light up front, in the fullback positions and missing a creative player imo. Saying that its days like today that remind me we desperately need a solid number 1. If we were to reach a final, I've no doubt this clown would completely bottle it and cost us. He needs to be dealt with in the summer. The amount of points we must have dropped in the last couple of seasons just through goalie errors must easy be in double figures.
Agree with this, especially the Goalkeeper comment. He makes the occasional brilliant save, but all keepers do. I think Carlo knows he‘s a weak link, he must do.

Villa, Saints and Chelsea all dropping points

still have a very good Europa league shout

This is the thing. It's good we don't seem to be as volatile as other sides, results wise.

If you can't win, try not to lose. We got a point from an in form Leicester side without a midfield. It's a solid return give the circumstances. Had Doucoure been fit I think that would have been a lot more comfortable a watch.

Now if we can win the games we should such as Newcastle, we'll gain on the sides that tend to bottle it regularly, such as your Villas (and even Leicester at times).
