Been the case for years though. Plenty of times the RS have turned up or we've their weakened side and struggled.

It's nothing new.

We've setup to be rigid, to not allow space.
When you press, you can allow that space behind.
All that has meant we're too deep, we've shown too much respect to a side without Salah/Firmino and their confidence has grown.

You can imagine Allardyce actually saying something along these lines. In the last 2 halves against City and Liverpool we have won one and drew one.

..amazes me that we’re crying out for a ball carrying central midfielder and Vlasic isn’t involved again. When Rooney got it with space in front of him and he played a poor ball into the box epitomised the lack of threat we carry. Our only chance is to get on the end of 2nd balls but we’re not particularly doing that.

We’re not organised enough to cope with their runners, they always have a man in space out wide and we’re lucky they haven’t made the most of it thus far.
