We could have easily gotten something yesterday, especially if Howard didn't conspire to somehow try and lose every game for us. Pellegrini got it spot on tactically because we allowed him to, it was obvious that they were doubling up on full backs from the first minute and yet nothing was done about it all game (a theme all too familiar from last season).
Obvious you have a downer on Howard, he actually kept the score down with some fine stops.

I think a lot of you lads are being very harsh on your players. In my view Everton played quite well yesterday, certainly better than Chelsea the week before. Coleman, Stones, Barkley and Cleverly were pretty decent for you.

We started off really we,, I thought the first 20 mins was all City, the rest of the half I though Everton were the better side. Second half for some reason it seemed to me like you stopped gambling going forward, that in turn allowed us to play our game more, and get behind you more often.
Poor goalkeeping from Howard for the first, a sublime move for our second, although both could have been stopped.

I don't see any reason for your fans to be disheartened, you have a decent side, decent players, few good results and you will be on a roll again.

Good luck for the rest of the season lads, obviously except the game at our place.

Something rather obvious is being missed here.

August 15th: Lukaku goes into the stands at Soton to apologize for hitting a lady with an errant strike in warm-ups. Everton win 3-0.
August 22nd: Aguero draws attention to a fan having a seizure before a corner. City win 2-0.

Catching on?

Catching on?

so we send Besic into the crowd to punch a pensioner and we'll beat Barnsley?

is that it?

what do I win?

Everton season ticket holder Frank O’Neill, who fell ill at Sunday’s game against Manchester City, has thanked everyone who has shown concern for his health over the past 24 hours.

Frank, 70, suffered a small seizure and, after being treated by paramedics, was taken to the Liverpool Royal Hospital.

Thankfully, he was released later on Sunday evening and able to return home - a stone’s throw away from Goodison Park on Butterfield Street, just off Sleepers Hill.

“I’d like to thank all Everton and Manchester City fans who were at the game, along with the medical staff and everyone else who has shown concern and sent messages,” said Frank who was attending the match with son John and grandsons Carl and Jack.

“It came on all of a sudden and I can’t express how grateful I am to everyone who helped. I can’t thank them enough.”

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, who noticed the incident during the game, took to Twitter after the final whistle to wish a speedy recovery to Frank, who has been watching Everton play at Goodison Park for 64 years.

Frank’s wife Kathleen also showed her appreciation for the support the family had received.

She said: “I’m not on Twitter but I believe there were a lot of people putting out messages asking how Frank was, which we are grateful for.

“We are thankful for everything that was done at the ground by the medical staff and stewards. If it had happened anywhere else, we don’t know what might have happened.”

First season we played with 2 wingers. We came 5th.

Last season we played with 1 winger, we came 11th.

This season we're playing with no wingers.

WHY WONT YOU PLAY WINGERS BOBBY, WHY?!

When City's mind is on the job they are the best in the PL, and by some distance.
They barely moved out of first gear and Silva ran us ragged. Least we gave em a game for 60' until we tired and let one in. Bizarre sub of Naismith before Kev or Del. I'm guessing he thought Naismith would track back and shut down their right wing better and stop us conceding a second. Too timid for my liking that - a loss is a loss. Gotta be bolder at home and aim to score yourself rather than shut them down. Still, good shift from the lads that

I enjoyed the game and thought Everton did ok. On reflection, a couple of days later, I am a little less sanguine. I have watched replays and the gulf in class and quality was massively bigger than I had hitherto believed. We are a bang average 7-12th place team. We lack creativity, movement, width. We will do OK this season, (7-12th) but it's all a bit depressing really.

on a different day, with a bit of luck we would've beaten them; thats how football is. i just hope we bring in a few more players and get some momentum going into these very tricky next games!
