....I did think the Naismith substitution was a bit negative given we were down 1-0. Indeed, whilst Kone worked at Soton it left us very exposed against better players. Hindsight is a great thing, but Mirallas or Deulofeu out wide would've give us more balance. Bottom line is it's not a level playing field and we did ok against a better team.

That was so obvious before the game though, Kone was never going to have much impact against City. Naive to keep the same team as last week just because we battered Southampton imo. Not saying having Mirallas on there would've gotten us a result like, but it certainly could've helped.

You can't press up against players like silva and toure, they are too good at finding space in behind for a player to run on to. The tactics were to sit deep and contain the runners off the ball and overall didn't think we did too badly. As has been said this is a very good side we've played against. There are far too many people on this forum who just love havin a good moan

Pathetic goals to give away. I'm looking at Howard, desperately need a new GK. Them subs were even more pathetic, should have brought the two wingers on straight after the first goal conceded.

Would rather concede another three and go for it than bring a championship standard midfielder on and still lack that attacking threat.

Awful from Martínez.

Gotta be said I do very much want City to go on and dominate. Much preferable opposition than Chelsea
I very much want Everton to go on and dominate.

Honestly... serious question. Wtf is wrong with you. Get behind your own team. Seriously, you love a post about any other team except Everton. This is an Everton forum mate, we support Everton here.

I thought the substitutions and tactics were poor today. We got a decent amount of joy with Coleman down the right, but had no width on the left side. I don't expect Galloway/Browning to be bombing forward, but at least when you see it isn't working try to adjust for it. Instead he brought on Naismith, and the result was that we were way too narrow. Barkley actually played pretty well but we were so narrow that City could crowd him out in the middle without any options to his left. Would have loved to see Deulofeu or Mirallas earlier.

I am actually sort of happy about our performance. We run and we fought for the ball, the final third could have been better but lets face it, Man City were defending like their life was on the line. Barkely and McCarthy need lessons on how to pass under pressure, but that will come.
Man City were on top of their game. You could tell that we gave harder match than Chelsea and they acknowledged it. They were professional and everyone did their job correctly, we were a td bit unlucky we never met them under a more callous situation.

Also the fact that Browning was nervous helped them alot. They exploited that side and he never came in terms with it all.

Just a bit of tweaking and we can beat most if not all of the teams out of the park.

Howard doesn't need to make the first save if Jagielka could hold a line. On the second, no keeper could cope but a defender shoulder-to-shoulder with Nasri stops that goal every time. I think Howard needs to go but don't blame him for the screw-ups,of the back four

I still think we are most dangerous when we attack from the flanks. Every time Coleman makes his runs, the man c defence panicks. Likewise when Kone and cleverly swings in diagonal balls into the box.

Let's move away from the continental tiki taka through the middle of the park and start playing with some variety.
