I am not too sure. We still look to open at the back.

Watford put 2 past us don't forget.

And we play with no width. Managers will suss that out pretty soon and just defend narrow as they know we can't move the ball wide.

The formation is down to our wingers not being fully fit tbf

Howard and that first goal. Jesus christ. He had actually been playing well up until then. I wasn't expecting anything from this game, but our performance was okay. Mirallas being left on the bench is actually baffling. Got beaten by potential champions, but we need to pick up some points against Spurs and get our heads back up.

Even in defeat that performance against a very very good City side fills me with optimism

Certainly it's an improvement on last season. We're moving the ball a lot quicker, runners are going beyond Lukaku, and we're going with the direct option the odd time. Seems to be making a difference.

City are so good it's hard to gauge what our level is. Tottenham next week will be a good indicator of where we're at.

Quite right, unfortunately Galloway was poor today and I thought Browning was an improvement on him. Surely ,if Oviedo was fit he would be playing, unless he is leaving the club.

I can't see him leaving otherwise surely Garbutt would not have been loaned out.

And especially not with Baines out long term.

But clearly there must be so eating wrong behind the scenes.

A month ago we were sitting with a wealth of options at left back.

Now are reduced to having two teenage centre backs covering the position :(

I expect to have a go though and not just sit back and admire their football like we did today.

Every single one of their attacks saw us running backwards towards our goal, inviting them to do what they want with the ball.

Let this sink in. We are the home team and we just stood there and let them walk, literally walk around with the ball. Passing and move is easy when you stand and watch defending.

So no I don't agree with you. I don't give a crap who we are playing, at the very least HAVE a go at them.

If we'd have had a go and lost 5-0 or 6-0, would you be okay with that?

What about the games against United and Arsenal two years ago? We sat back and countered against them, was that okay?

They had a go, almost scored a few times but in the end City were better and Everton couldn't push them any more. There's a difference between having a go and being successful in it

To be honest, we don't look too bad. If we'd stop giving the ball away in our own half as soon as everyone has (eventually) bombed up the pitch it might give us a bit more confidence to be a little more creative in the "final third"........

Yeah I wondered about Mirallas and whet his reaction would be to not coming on!

He's got a [Poor language removed] attitude anyway, and his eyes are too close together. Me nan always said never trust anyone who's eyes are too close together, they're deviants.

After Southampton, was hoping for a better game out of Rom. Unfortunately, he had his stone boots on again today and his first touches were spraying all over the place. He was unlucky on the penalty kick and the offside replay looked like it may have gone to the good with a heavier flag.

Seamus ran his guts as usual and gave City all they wanted.
