finally got a reply. that's cleared that up then
sorry for my confusion.

Thank you for your email.

We are sorry that you were not happy with our coverage of Everton vs Manchester City on Saturday 3 May.

Our live coverage is designed to tell the story of a football match. A major storyline of the fixture was how an Everton win would boost Liverpool’s title winning chances and therefore the likely impact on the atmosphere at Goodison Park. This subject had also been debated across other parts of the media before the match.

Obviously it is our duty to inform our viewers of what is happening during the live coverage and only right that they discussed the atmosphere during the match, particularly considering our on-screen talent boast years of experience commentating and playing in big matches, including at Goodison Park. Again, this was consistent with other parts of the media where, for example, the words ‘flat’ ‘strange’ and ‘odd’ were used in match reports.

We are sorry that this affected your enjoyment of our coverage and we can ensure you that there is no bias either towards or against any particular club. We cover Everton extensively throughout the season on Sky Sports, including 11 live Premier League matches this season and of course on Sky Sports News and across our digital outlets.
Thanks

Hi lads, got this reply. am i right in saying that it's a crap answer?

what should my reply be? I'm thinking along the lines of

"To be honest lousie, i never watched the SKY coverage for this game, watched a jarg american stream instead, NEA"

Frankly it is a crap answer. I watched it on NBC here in the States and the commentators managed to do all of the things that Louise says they did but didn't make the entire game about Liverpool and certainly praised the atmosphere during many portions of the match where appropriate and not just after Ross had scored! Cheers for making the extra effort!

yep, i watched an NBC stream, faultless imo. a lot of here said the same. but yeah, it's a truly awful answer from SKY imo, (i'm basing this on other people's comments obviously), but she's basically going along with tyler allegedly said. people pay a sky subscription and expect better than an hour and a half of moaning about the crowd rather than providing in game commentary and top analysis.

Imagine if we had won this game and Liverpool had won the league. Thank God I didn't need to find the bleach.

Hi Louise,

thanks for your reply, i think using the word talent with regards to most of the SKY panel is very generous, but there we go, everyone's entitled to an opinion. Seeing as media as a whole is littered with ex-liverpool players who form their own biased views is not a great yardstick to use as an excuse for Tyler constantly talking about the atmosphere.

You would hope that a large majority of the audience would know that Liverpool and Everton are rivals, but yeah, a quick mention of that fact at the start of the game was all that was needed i suppose? What wasn't necessary was his consistent moaning every 10 minutes; the fact he kept making things up was also so so poor and unprofessional. He clearly had an agenda to try and belittle Everton as a club and more so, it's fans. As you say, he boasts years of experience, he commentated like a petulant toddler though.

Maybe the atmosphere was a bit flatter than other games you have shown at Goodison on SKY (you do only show the ones where the atmosphere has a bit more bite i might add, so i suppose i can't blame Mr. Tyler for not bothering to actually watch a Goodison match vs a less glamorous club), but it was a dead rubber for us, it was at the end of the season with nothing really riding on it from an everton POV, what do people expect? The atmosphere was nowhere near as bad as he continually tried to point out and nor would him making that point every 10 minutes change it.

You would expect better from someone of his age is all i can say

My reply.

has nobody else had a reply yet?

Hello Louise, thank you for your kind reply to my initial email.

I wish to state that this is a rebuttal of your official response wrote on behalf of your employer as you didn't address my pertinent points and instead, in my opinion, gave me a generic reply loosely touching on the issues I raised by in no way satisfying my concerns as a paying customer.

I'm fully aware that the commentary is to tell a story but also two important factors are that the commentary is neutral and professional. The commentary for the match in question was neither.

Now I am fully aware that there may be some partisanship shown by any sports fan hearing anyone criticising their team and fellow supporters so if my concerns were noted by just Evertonians then it would lead me to agree with the stance you've taken.

Tellingly there was some criticism of the commentary in question from the other team participating in the game too which you can find here:

http://forums.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=299988&start=140

Or to involve a neutral opinion on the game - you will find the below from Aston Villa fans.

http://www.heroesandvillains.info/forumv3/index.php?topic=50036.12690

Still not satisfied? Then see what some Fulham fans have to say here:

http://www.friendsoffulham.com/forum/index.php?topic=39167.0

The issues with the commentary I complained to your company about was also picked up by some wider scale media outlets online, like here:

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2014/05/03/everton-manchester-city-premier-league_n_5259990.html

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...rtin-tyler-for-questioning-evertons-integrity

And it didn't escape the attention of the local press and Everton's manager Roberto Martinez who felt compelled to react here:

http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spor...ws/roberto-martinez-hits-back-critics-7074922

So Louise I hope that's apt support of the complaint I forwarded. I would appreciate it if you could respond similarly to this rebuttal of your response letter to my complaint. If you are unable to do so then perhaps you can direct me to one of your superiors, from which I'd like a reasoned response and not what I consider a gentle palming off, such as the response you offered.

I didn't want acknowledgement - not that I got it either - I wanted an explanation and if possible the measures you have taken to ensure that future commentary meets the standards required for paying customers and retains a sense of integrity as Martin Tyler sadly lacked for the game on 3rd May.

I keenly look forward to a satisfactory response,

Yours sincerely,

Mr Y.E.R Mar
