Not seeing this ‘we didn’t play badly’ argument. We barely put a glove on them, in fact we could barely get the ball especially in the second half. We had 5 minutes of good play when McCarthy came on but aside from that we didnt trouble them.

The players are too slow and lazy. Mentally weak.

We didn't play badly

People on here are just overly negative

We looked okay second half and almost equalised in the second before they scored a wonder goal

We weren't amazing but we acquitted ourselves fine for the most part

The sad reality is that United are just overall better than us and they turned it on early in the second half, at which point the gap in class came to the fore. Even then, it took two incredible strikes to beat us, with the first one coming from a turn over during one of our own attacks

It really wasn't anywhere close as bad as some are letting on, we just like to moan about things

The first half was to be fair a much better showing than that against say Chelsea, Brom and Bournemouth.

Full collapse second half though.

What game were you watching?

Everton Vs Manchester United on 01/01/2018

I'm just not a moaning cry arse who always has to complain about everything on the internet

We've lost to the 2nd placed side in the league and actually had a good go at them at points

West Brom and Bournemouth were troublesome results, but this one wasn't. We acquitted ourselves well for the most part. No need for the doom and gloom

West Brom at home is the big one right now, United was always a free hit

I thought the first half was ok. Vlasic and Yannick were causing them problems but Niasse offered nothing as a lone striker. No idea what Sam said at half time but those first 15 minutes of the second half we just gave up! We were in total awe of them. It was men against boys that second half.

niasse at least got to at least 2 good chances, where he was close to scoring. more than what could be said about what dcl usually does.

DCL is a kid still learning his trade and in fairness to him he's scored a couple and set up a few but both him and Niasse just isn't good enough (DCL may be but it's too early in his career to expect him to lead the line). If we go into the seond half of the season having to rely on these two for goals or Sandro (remember him) then Walsh needs sacking.

It did make me wryly smile to hear Mourhino chuntering about his lack of strikers before the game. Sure Lukaku and Zlatan are losses but he could afford to lead Rashford on the bench.

Come back and moan when you're options are a raw (and tired) DCL, Niasse (will slot against crap teams but is ungainly as hell) and Sandro.

Face it chaps, any talk of challenging for the top 4 was always fanciful. The squad lacks quality and we've brought badly for several seasons by and large.

That was pretty much the game. The first half, we weren't playing overly defensive, we were attacking, we had chances. Not sure how many here actually watch the games some times. But yeah, the first 15 minutes leading up to the goal in the second half was completely abyssmal. Man U was playing so narrow the whole first half, I believe they spread the ball out a bit and pulled us apart. Honestly, anyone - Mata in this case - can sit out left 30 yards from goal all day without Martina or anyone else dispossessing them.

After that 15 minutes, we finally showed some spirit and attack, but the quality simply wasn't there. Probably shouldn't scored via Niasse's head to even it up.

Stats like no shots on target give the impression we were far worse than we were. Don't get me wrong we weren't great that first half and United never really had to get out of first gear but equally that's a team that's spent probably half a billion (at least) on players since Ferguson left. Regardless of what we spent in the summer we still started the game with a back four consisting of a RB at LB, A young CB at RB and a pair of CB's in the middle who haven't played together as a pairing since Allardyce came in (someone fact check that, i might be wrong), two 19 year olds in Vlasic and Davies,Yannick still finding his feet following a year out and Niasse who really shouldn't be a premierleague footballer. On Paper the result wasn't a shock because United have a better squad - that said they've had a better squad than most teams in the league over the last 27 years and that's never stopped us giving it a damn good go and we've had great results against them at home over the last 5 years. Second half yesterday though we looked starstruck as Pogba started showboating.
The absence of Coleman and a proper leftback have ruined us more so than Lukaku leaving IMO. Baines at his best and Coleman flying were, attacking wise as good as any fullbacks in the league and pushed us up the field. Striker is priority but the club should be searching high and low for a new FIRST TEAM LB now as Baines isn't ever going to be the player he was. Register Garbutt (he can't be any worse than Martina) as cover and try and rescue this dud of a season.

...I know it’s been said before but the Reds contingent at Sky Sports is so large, i’m amazed other clubs aren’t highlighting it. For our game last night, Kelly Dalglish and Graham Souness were in the studio. I think Alan Parry was commentating alongside Carragher. Parry is open about being a regular Koppite when he was younger.

There was only Henry without a Reds background.

The negativity on here sometimes is suffocating

Yes, the result was a bummer, but we actually didn't play that badly

If we play like that against all the sides worse than us, then we should be able to scrape enough points to see us safe, at which point we can lick our wounds and have another go next season, most likely with a new manager

The Bournemouth and West Brom matches were far more cause for concern, and if we keep playing like we did yesterday then it seems Allardyce has learnt something from those two horrible performances

We have West Brom, Brighton, Newcastle and Palace still to come at home

Win those and it's 12 points, and likely safety. Those are the games we need to worry about. Man United was always a "free hit" and we had a decent go at them in spurts and were only undone by two moments of pure class from a superior side

Lot's of reasons to feel down this season, but yesterday wasn't one of them. We didn't bend over for United like we did against Arsenal and Spurs. We had a go and at 0-1 almost equalised. It wasn't the disaster some are making out

Good points, I like the positive review and spot on about the Bournemouth and West Brom games. If we had the same "attack minded" lineup we had against Man U we would have won those games. In other words, if we took a calculated risk in those games (like Big Sam said before this game) they could have achieved more positive results.

The team is not as bas as you told us (Turkish fans) :) Cenk should bring your lacking final quality.

Just have a question. Why does Vlasic play as a winger and Rooney MC ? Both are trying but it seems that they are really uncomfortable. Wouldn't it be better to put Vlasic in the center, Rooney forward and maybe Niasse right wing ?

It's the first time I'm watching, so I may be wrong but I was thinking that it could be better.
Best post about Vlasic . And wrote from guy who never watch him before.
Aferin.
