Poor finishing but Onana did some great saves. As to their goal that first he was allowed to much space, poor defending. IMO the penalty decision was incorrect and their final goal where was our defence.

Too many of our players seemed to be not in tune.
Third goal was the midfield not tracking the runners. Probably knackered at this stage of the game. It looked like Gana, not tracking back. Understandable given the situation we were in. And having no fresh legs on the bench in midfield.

I agree once Beto is fit he should be replacing DCL after 70-75 minutes.
It may not work, but I think that Harrison is too often picking up the ball when he is too deep and the opposition defence is nearly always set in their shape. And he seems to prefer cutting inside rather than going to the bye line. I’d hope playing him higher up the pitch, a little more centrally would allow him to get the ball in more dangerous areas / situations, he’d be closer to DCL and also Danjuma (Doucoure) giving more options / support. With still the option of Patterson out wide. It may not work but I think it’s worth a try in certain situations, against certain teams at home.
Well, you know my thinking on him.

If Harrison is to be a better offensive player as he was at Leeds he needs a FB he doesn't have to continually track back for. For me Coleman is the only FB we have who can do both sides of the FB job and he'll afford Harrison the base he can work off going on the attack. If we play Young or Patterson in behind him he cant settle to an attacking game as much as he'd like.

DCL free header straight at Onana
Doucoure should have taken a touch before hitting it wide
DCL shooting straight at Onana twice in good positions
Onana's great diving save from Gueye just after United scored their pen
Mykolenko crossbar
Mainoo's goal line clearance
a couple of times near the end it looked like we were going to score and somehow the ball just wouldn't go in

just wasn't our day

I thought the scoreline was extremely flattering , found us to be vastly superior in the first half just couldn't capitalize on goal scoring opportunities, their first goal was an astounding feat which young allowed to happen by providing the space and then he bungled things by leaving his foot down for the attacker to make a meal of it and win the penalty, I don't get the jack Harrison and garner were terrible shouts , only player I thought was atrocious was young, Doucoure was mediocre squandering a bunch of chances and gana had some positive contributions he just needs to never shoot or try to cross again , just intercept the ball and recycle to someone else.

We missed Onana big time.

Gana upsets our team because Dyche doesn't give him the only role he's suitable at - sitting deep and only interrupting play/pass to the first player in the first direction he can see.

Didn't help Calvert-Lewin was off his game either.
More frustratingly also it seems that Gana/our DM whoever he is has instructions to venture forward more instead of the playmaker, bizarrely.

Feels like it should be better if Garner goes further forward to use his actual good shots from distance instead of Gana skying every touch like

Drives me insane how Dyche (and Lampard before him), decided Gana can play an advanced role.

Gana on the bench allows Onana to play that number 6 role and every player looks better for it.

Never a 3-0 scoreline, an absolute worldly goal, a soft enough penalty and a counter attack. We had a right go, created enough chances to at least be level at half time and that's a whole new game ...

We will play much worse this season and win. Home form really needs to improve over the second half or it will be very messy.

I agree with that. Starting off and conceding a world class goal knocked us back...but not for long.

We created gilt-edged chances (and have all season) that I just don't see others at the bottom replicating consistently. We just need a player to regularly cash in on them.

I have a feeling that Beto - if we can get hm off the mark in the PL - will be that player. I don't think DCL or Doucoure relish chances when they come. But I think that Beto would just eat them up if he got a couple of them each game. But he needs to be played alongside DCL for me. He won't lead the line and get goals on his own.

Dyche needs to be brave in home games and play both attackers. If he does I can see us getting clear, because our away form is very likely to easily surpass what the others at the bottom can achieve.

I have absolutely zero problems with our performance yesterday. Very unlucky, not the least of which was watching a 1 in 1,000 screamer hit the corner in the third minute. The players' reaction to that was very good, and if we play with that effort the rest of the way we'll be fine.

The problem continues to be just a simple lack of quality, which has been exacerbated the last few years because we have no money to spend. Dyche has our guys believing and playing for the shirt, for themselves. Something that's been sorely lacking in recent times. But there was a gulf in quality in the attacking third between us and United, which begat that result.

Onward.

Bad enough getting beat yesterday but there is no escape from seeing that first goal over and over and over again on TV. I must have seen it a thousand times :(

mate they’re team that team yday was a sham and we still got beat

not taking these chances is really a problem

home form is key to staying up and it’s a joke

I cannot believe Young has got 7 votes! He was rubbish yesterday. Loses Garnacho for the first goal (yes it was a worldie but he was completely free), gets a yellow and could have had a second on at least 2 other occasions, gives away a stupid pen, and generally struts around like his sh** dosn't stink!
Young is dross, too old too slow. Villa reject..Needs dropping now.
