Match Thread Everton V Newcastle - Saturday 5th October - 17:30

Sky Sports throwing out the stats around teams giving the ball away near their own goal and it resulting in a shot on goal. Newcastle are top of this list. Not sure this is conclusive proof that playing it out from the back is a terrible tactic. We are middle of the list and dont play out from the back

Maybe if we press them slightly they will give us a goal or two, we can only hope.

Very good teams with top players play it out from the back, mostly successfully. I wish we could but our players are not good enough which presumably is why Dyche prefers the big boot up the pitch from Pickford.

We’ve won 6 in 27,
Not sure our tactics are working

Is that the women's team ?

The men are at home mate 😉

Oh ffs :D
Cheers mate, that's shoddy work by me and I have no excuses; not good enough at this level, Championship standard posting at best. New prediction incoming...

Despite being up near the top, Newcastle have been pretty poor this season so far.

With Isak likely still out and is coming off the back of a win at home, this is a good time to play them and a good chance for us to get a win.

Id be worried about the midfield battle in this game and Doucoure and think Harrison should come in for Lindy.

Isak been ruled out already which is great news as he's a nightmare forward for this backline to contain (even with Branthwaite in).

Their performances haven't been great but they're a very hard to beat team home and away. Were awful at Bournemouth and Wolves for 70 minutes and 1-0 down in both yet secured four points from those two games. Also were outplayed by Spurs at home but still won that and also won v Southampton despite playing pretty much all the game with 10 men.

Only Fulham they were comprehensively defeated but not sure a Dyche team can press like Silva's got Fulham going.

Midfield will be the key battle here so vital Dyche brings back Gana imo, I think him and Mangala will be a good battle against Guimaraes and Joelinthon.

Only scraped past Wimbledon 1-0 at home in the cup.

This is a decent time in the season to be playing Newcastle, let's not dress it up any other way.

A few injuries aswell last night, Schar was taken off at the end and rated a doubt so that would be a boost if he's not there as he's their ball playing CB.

We are so good, we can give the ball away anywhere on the pitch. And do, frequently
