I think it might be close to this team, with Cleverley instead of Davies, who played last night. Jagielka and Barry will benefit from the rest, and I think Coleman still needs a little bit of sharpness so think he will play, although it is a little harsh on Holgate.

mccarthy is injured

mirallas as captain?!?!?!
Wasn't aware of McCarthy being crocked. Basic and Gibson both out too... Cleverley gets the very rare start then.

On the premise that I'm resting Barry, Baines, Jags and Coleman, AND given his recent performances, I would give Mirallas the captaincy for an early-round league cup game. He's been leading by example on the field IMHO. Equally, I would certainly not object if Williams took the job.

Didn't realise Davies had played mate. Stick Cleverley in then. He will be sound enough under Koeman's guidance.

Not sure why Davies took part last night given the injuries to Besic, Gibson and McCarthy. I have never seen T-Clev as a CM, perhaps an AM or a LM - maybe he will do ok if Gana is next to him. Gives me a bad feeling..... could see an ugly draw unless we get lucky in front of goal.

I know he won't play tonight because he needs a rest but does anyone remember Barry's goal against them a couple seasons ago at home? I was looking from behind him and it was one of the best strikes I can remember in a long time. Game's also on BEin sports 9 tonight too, going for a comfortable 3-0 with hopefully Valencia, Barkley and Mori to score tonight
