'The authorities' will meet with representatives of Everton Football Club at 1pm today to discuss the adequacy of safety features ahead of this evenings FA cup tie, scheduled for 19:45.

"We are deeply concerned for the safety of viewers of this football match both live and on the telly", said a spokesperson. "Everton's football has been so dire to date that there is a real risk of depression, disillusionment, and downright anger, and our priority has to be the welfare of the matchgoing/armchair fans".

Asked if preference was to postpone the fixture, the spokesperson replied "or just bin it off entirely, postponing it would just kick the can down the road"

Isnt Switch Island Gridlocked? Have a few mates that have said few accidents and ice causing chaos, 2 hours to get to work from just outside Liverpool trying to get to Aintree?

Yeah that’s what I mean. The knock on effect, not necessarily the snow it’s self.

It's not about the pitch though obviously.

It's about the infrastructure and safety of 40,000 people trying to get to the same place with public transport cancelled etc.

I think the idea is to give it as much chance as possible to go ahead. Guess they're hoping those extra few hours will have seen things improve, but aren't temperatures due to plummet again tonight?
