Thought we were in control until the disallowed goal. Since then we’ve let them create a few openings and been running back towards our own goal. That said, we’ve still created the best chances and they’ve still not had a shot on target. Do worry that will change if we carry on the way we have, after the VAR decision

The worry is sitting on a 1 goal lead we dont have a Mina or a Davies to bring on to help hold on to the lead.

For me we need a 2nd early doors and kill them off.

I'm actually fine with us slowing the game in this scenario. They've got loads of pace on the counter, don't give them chance to gain momentum.

Not saying we should sit deep but having a boring end to the half was decent game management on our part.

I think someone like Iwobi could be a help 2nd half though. When we go forward they don't look comfortable at all.

It's never fine to slow down the play when there's 60 odd minutes left and there is only a goal in it. Too many times we've gone up in a game, slowed down the play and let in an equaliser, then are unable to pick it up again and end up losing.. slow down play with 10 minutes to go and leading by at least 2.

Happy so far. Not conceded any shots on goal. Dont feel petrified that we will concede everytime they get the ball!
Its a style that reminds me of watching Soccer Italia in the 90’s, we get ahead then try and take the sting out of the game. Slow it down whenever we have the ball.
Getting results is the most important thing, if se keep a clean sheet and score one goal, we win the game. We have tried exciting, buccaneering style with Martinez and Silva and it was not sustainable!
I look at our backline and i think in a years time Carlo will have us as the best defensive team in the league. Pickford, Holgate, Godfrey, Keane, Mina, Digne all around for the long term and will only improve!

our goal comes from DCL, then Gylfi picking up the flick on and playing a nice pass and it’s a great run/finish from Rich.

you can’t repeat that 20 times a game, but do what you’re good at

We could have been 2 up yet Southampton are by far the better team. Our sideways and backwards is awful to watch. They pass better and play as a team whereas we boot the ball up the pitch. Yet it is 1-0, so things can get better.
