Glad of the 3 points but can’t say there is a lot of pleasure in watching these games.

Successful teams are built on a sound defence & we are certainly getting in some practice.

Hopefully we get into Europe & can attract a bit more quality in the middle & at right Back.

We should have put that game to bed with a second goal, we hardly moved out of first gear, ultimately it was enough but we need to drive on much more to try and get the second goal, we could easily have thrown that win away and only come away with a draw.

Could you imagine calling one our CBs who won us a European Cup mediocore because he said something we didn't like on commentary/punditry duty?

I know Kevin Ratcliffe comes across as a bit of a (sorry for bad word) these days but would any Evertonian not consider him a legend?

Inappropriate Language
One of the very first Everton games I ever remember watching properly (was on here in Ireland) was the 1-0 Southampton match Kendall resigned after.

I know times and our away form now are very different now, but to actually just somehow grimly win the match at Goodison had something of that same feeling of relief when I was seven, Everton being on and winning a match made Saturdays at my granddads even more special, and afterwards I remember thinking what could possibly be wrong with everyone, why this guy had to go (he seemed alright, but maybe we could get Brian Horton now) and everyone was still all angry and complaining.

If you told me Everton had played [Poor language removed] (as I'm guessing they did), I'd have pointed at the score again like you were a bit slow. Playing [Poor language removed] didn't exist. 90% of football was essentially interchangeable to me, everything was about the sick feeling of watching a coin on its side, (I really thought all goalkeepers were as good as each other until I was about ten, well past Santa), and once it had landed on your side that was all that mattered. A win is a win is a win.

So this is a good night to get in touch with my inner child. And eat 20 kitkats.
