Turgid's a bit strong isn't it. If you've seen much of Southampton this year that's the way a lot of their games go.

They make it difficult for the opposition and generally do a good job of keeping teams out. I thought it was a good display overall.

It was awful to watch for about an hour before it started to pick up, scrappy, missed passes everywhere, awful corners, I think the fact we turned it on for 20 will make people forget the rest somewhat.

In all reality we only actually turned up for the last 25 minutes today.

massively frustrating game but fortunately Valencia's introduction changed it.

Shows what going with two forwards does and in fairness Koeman did that today. Can't legislate for an injury.

But, great last half-an-hour. Urgency, a bit of spark and determination, and the good stuff came in the end. High press, high energy, neat passing in the final third - it clicked.

We finally properly thumped a team as well. As in, we made sure we couldn't throw away the points (albeit we probably tried our best to at times).

Not having Barry made a huge difference... Davies looks like he's been playing at this level a long time... moves around so much and gets caught out sometimes... but that's what happens when you make forward runs... Barry very rarely gets caught out... but he doesn't make things (good things) happen...barkley looked like he enjoyed himself for the last 20 mins and looked well pleased with his applause ... hope he can keep the feeling going and keep playing how he did.
