well in.

dreadful first half I thought, and I thought both teams looked like they were a bit dead on their feet. Eventually we stepped it up and took our chances. Well done to Joel for a solid showing stopping their few dangerous moments.

Pretty much! We're going long more under Koeman, to a front man who doesn't like/want/can't keep the ball as demanded of him in this style.

Southampton are just exploiting that, pressing us, happy for us to punt it long, getting back into solid defensive rows and happy to see our woeful crosses being sent in.
Having a second striker up there fixed this problem in the second half and we blew them away. Would have liked to see how it would have worked with Calvert-Lewin not getting hurt

...the Lennon substitution changed the game. I keep saying he flatters because he's busy but he offers very little in the top third of the pitch. He almost goes out to mark the opposing full back rather than the other way around.

Well done Valencia, he looked lively for 30mins at Hull and you could see he was wanting to score a goal. He's not the answer but he offers more than Lennon going forward.

Turgid until the last 20 minutes then really rather good. Superb Tom Davies, well played Ross and Rom too.

Turgid's a bit strong isn't it. If you've seen much of Southampton this year that's the way a lot of their games go.

They make it difficult for the opposition and generally do a good job of keeping teams out. I thought it was a good display overall.
