I seem to remember a ''our next 5 games'' thread before the Arsenal match and most of us were wondering where we'd get points from.

Considering the mood then and the fact that most people seem to think we need a complete overhaul, 10 points is not a bad return.
Yes, and it could/should've been better as I don't think we deserved to lose the derby. And if young DCL had
scored with that late header at Hull...

Koeman already answered your question mate. He said that he could've put Valencia on straightaway but he already had it in mind that he would be highest impact with 30 minutes to go and that's why he waited.

Hadn't seen that so thanks. But still don't understand why he had to change the formation could have stuck kev up there? As i said anyway, 3 points. That all that matters

Until the moment Valencia came on, we were pretty shocking. Rom seems to thrive having someone like Valencia playing alongside him as he drags defenders away. Thought the result flattered us a bit, but I'm not going to complain.

The score, maybe, but not the result.

Thoughts on yesterday's game.

Much better performance again from the team. Why we can't do this consistently is amazing now tbh but i'll take the wins how they come. We weren't great for the most part, but we did what we needed which was the main thing. What i did like was the killer instinct in the side which has been very lacking in recent years. We saw Southampton for the taking and went for it, relying on our back 5 to stop them from scoring in the process. Very positive to see.

Valencia proved how much better we are with a second striker, hopefully this will end out 15 years of single striker teams and go for another up front, although i am still not convinced by valencia himself as the answer here. Lukaku looked much better the second half as well. Personally think it shown every single knocker of him who calls him crap and a liability when we are hoofing it 40 yards to him, that in fact he is a much better striker than that and give him support like yesterday and he works with it creating chances.

another game with no barry and another good performance from the midfield. Davies had a great game, not convinced he is ready for the team as such, southampton were just poor yesterday, BUT he stepped up when we needed him to, quite rightly an option in the middle now for the future.

and overall now, Koeman getting 3 wins out of 5 is a fantastic result for the team. Think it has changed the mood slightly, and although Hull and Liverpool shown we are nowhere near the finished article and desperatly need consistency (and no barry), this is a start, and to finish 7th (which was probably the aim anyway) we are going the right way about it.

Thought it was a decent game. Few calls of Lennon having a mare, but he was almost playing as a wing back at times and put a shift in there. Would of been a different game if DCL hadn't come off - showed some early flashes of playing well off Rom.

Fair play to Barkley, looked better today. Think it was interesting that when he was on the wings he did better - perhaps it's because it gives him less to think about.

A good game though and it was hard to pick a MOM as there were a number of good displays- arguably Davies for his effort and great pass for Rom, needs to bring the ball down a little more though rather than playing head tennis.

Great day though, fumers can go and suck a fat one.

I'm sorry if you thought that was a decent game you were either not there or deluded.

For 70 minutes we were as poor as Southampton.

It was good to see Davies gives us legs and freshness in midfield but we were devoid of quality and ideas. Our only attacking outlet was Coleman and his delivery was generally shocking

From the time Valencia came on we looked much better. I don't think he was wonderful but he gave us something.

The score flattered us and Southampton must be wondering how they got nothing from that game.

Happy with 3 points but please someone explain to me..

Start the match 4-4-2 with calvent-lewis playing along side lukaku looking bright.. he gets injured and he changes the formation to a 4-2-3-1 leaving lukaku totally isolated, we play gash..then takes lennon off and puts valencia on and goes 4-42 and we are playing well..

Surley should have just put valencia on as first sub?

Anyway good 3 points.
Absolutely spot on mate.

So it was a dreadful game despite us winning 3-0? Thanks mate, I'll remember that the next time I go to a game and enjoy it that I'm supposed to expect us to win 7-0. Notice how I used the adjective 'decent' not 'good' or 'fantastic'. It was decent.

For the opening 10-15 we were better than Southampton, the injury to DCL put heed to that though and the last 30 minutes (when he brought Valencia on) was pretty much our game.

Neither were we 'devoid of ideas and quality' there was plenty coming through from Baines, through balls from Gueye and Barkley. Few unfortunate bounces or good bits of defence, but a lot better than it has been.

Southampton will look at the game and see that we scored 3 goals and they scored .. none. That's how they got nothing from the game.

Bang on the money. It was a dreadful match until we scored.

But 3 points are more important than performances at this point.

Still not convinced by Ronk.

Same here... ruptured my MCL in the last 10 minutes of our semi final last year.... felt like a sore knee that's all... I told them I wanted to carry on.... I managed to jog off the pitch fine .... within 10 minutes I couldn't move my knee for the next 6 months

Goes to show, right! That sort of injury really taught me a lot though, not just about anatomy and physiotherapy, but about the mental aspect of being immobilized like that, weakened and helpless in most senses, bored out of your face and pitied by everyone till the point it makes you nauseous.

So hey, at least DCL will have ample oppurtunity to work on his mentality and maturity - if the injury turns out to be very serious. Unfortunately, there's been no news from the club and nothing from DCL's twitter either, which is worrying in this sense.

For me Funes Mori had his best game in a Everton shirt. Can't even count the amount of times he's stepped out with the ball. His reading of the game was brilliant yesterday. Barkley will get all the plaudits as well an special mention for the Ket wig kiaser (Davis for non scousers)

But Funes Mori was my MoM yesterday

I kept going to the gym tho... until my knee started to quiver whenever I picked up a 20kg weight to put on the bench lol... I can say however that I ruptured my knee and never missed a game :) started playing again on the first game of the next season... even if it was only doing 10 mins every game for the next 10 games :)
