We conceded another cheap goal. Why are we backing off when they are coming at us in the final third? Kenny backed off, Schneiderlin reacted too late.

The amount of times Schneiderlin had the ball at his feet with space to run into and he decided to pass sideways. That type of football needs knocking on the head. First half we desperately needed a decent striker and second half we needed to be more ruthless and pressed harder.
i thought davies was guilty if this, he even seemed to slow his game down more when were behind like he genuinely didnt know we were behind

I really don't understand this modern trend of resting players for cup games. It's not as if we are chasing top 4, we're not going to get relegated and I'd rather win either of the cups than finish anywhere from 5th to 17th. Play your best team and at least give it a go.

This.

Baffles me. It’s irritating.

This cup, every season, is a great opportunity to win some silverware. Which is something that no team will easily pass up. City (thrice) Chelsea and United have won this competition in the last 5 years. With Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs also making the finals in that time.

You might see the top teams rotate in some of the earlier rounds as they naturally have League and European focuses that we don’t have at present, but you can see they all take it very seriously, there is certainly no lying down.

This was arguably an easier way for us to qualify for Europe next year than doing so via the league. I would go as far as saying that this game and the FA Cup 3rd round game in January are two of the most important games this season.

We aren’t going to make a challenge on the top 6/7 in any meaningful way this season, and no matter what happens, we’re too good to be in any serious danger of going down. So we’re in no mans land, these cup runs are what we should be prioritising.

Was disappointed as soon as I saw the teamsheet.

I went for Fat Larry as MOM.

Why wasn't DCL on the pitch? Why was Lookman on the pitch? Why did we concede a goal to Danny Ings of all people? For the answer to these and many more questions...................don't ask me, I haven't the foggiest
Fat Lazza's turning out to be a good loanee isn't he? As for Eton Dom and Sulky, I have the same questions you raise (although I'd be lying if I said they were burning ones lol)

Looks I like silva. I will calm down. I am fully behind him.

But he threw that game away, just like Koeman did twice in his first year in cup competitions. He needs told what he did was unacceptable and given a final warning.

He picked a side that made it a very difficult task to win. He left all our goals out.

I'm behind him for the long term, but what he did tonight was shameful and I'm disgusted that he is yet another Everton manager who would rather try and nick an extra point to turn 9th into 8th than actually win a trophy. I like his methods. I think he is a good manager no doubt. But I will never accept complacency and throwing away winnable home games to concentrate on the Leicester game in a competition we can't win!!

He played Bernard, our first choice striker and Lookman - a player the club did all they could to keep. He wasn't exactly playing no marks mate.

Absolute myth this cup is easy to win. Top 6 club has claimed it 5 straight years and 12 of the last 14:

2005 - Chelsea
2006 - Man United
2007 - Chelsea
2008 - Spurs
2009 - Man United
2010 - Man United
2010 - Birmingham City
2012 - that lot
2013 - Swansea
2014 - Man City
2015 - Chelsea
2016 - Man City
2017 - Man United
2018 - Man City
Any chance you can show us something similar for the Premier League and FA Cup winners so that we can understand why we should focus on them rather than the League Cup?

We didn't lose because we rested players, end of.

Maybe it didn't help, sure, but we lost because we made the same mistakes as we have been doing for a long, long time.

That, and Richarlison and Walcott messed themselves.

We need to score goals from all positions on the pitch...
Headed goals from corners or set pieces from our defenders...
Davies & Gana need to get a few more goals from midfield shoot more often....

Do we practice set pieces or corners etc....

Jagielka,Coleman & Baines were regular scorers not so long ago....

Get knocked out of the cups and have a nice club summer break in January when the fa cup weekends come round. Managers plan it now, utter disgrace.

Is there anyone who seriously believes that Schneiderlin, Tosun or Davies bring ANYTHING to our team, or give us supporters any feelings other than excruciating pain whilst pulling our fingernails or hair out in absolute frustration?

If so, please stand up. They are absolutely useless, probably 3 of the worst players I have ever seen in an Everton shirt since I started following the Blues in 1969. I can guarantee you this, If, and its a BIG if, we ever win anything again as a club - these three players will be nowhere near our once proud football club.

Blues, NSNO. Are we really pining our hope on this quality of player? Surely not.

Voted Stek as he saved a penalty. FFS.

Better quality needed is a fair shout but among the worst? What were you doing during the 90's? I'll raise you my username for a starter. Peter Degn & Stephen Hughes also come to mind!

Why was Lookman on the pitch? Well he did a lot better than the man who replaced him tonight and that was before Charlie messed he's penalty up, never seen such a cock up of a penalty ever, the run up would have got Charlie Chaplin
an ovation and laugh of the year award, turn it in Charlie. !!!!!!

Well that was enjoyable........not!
I'm beginning to lose the will. I read comments by Seamus Coleman about expectations for the season. Going on about having good cup runs 'for the fans'. Saying its about time we had a go etc etc.

It frustrates the life out of me that we 'rest' players' in one of the two comps we have a chance to win something. We're not in Europe and after Leicester on Saturday we have a two week break. So, why can't we play as full a strength side as possible?
What is our purpose? To exist?
If we play a full strength side and we go out, then at least we had a go. The intention to win the comp is there. This way, there's an excuse. Drives me nuts. Every year.....!!

None of those 3 are the best in their positions imo.

Football is a team game. Maybe Tosun is better than DCL. But we are so much better with DCL up top. Our striking options are appalling but we need pace and Tosun can't offer it. A mixture of him being really slow and not very arsed at the same time is a bad combo.

This is going to be a long difficult season nevermind if we play our second string. Silva needs to quickly realise these players on our bench aren't good enough and have got 4 managers sacked. They don't deserve game time. They are mentally weak and don't care about the result.
