Match Thread Everton v Southampton

We look good in spells going forward and I am happy that progress is being made.

However, I am watching Arsenal v Chelsea at the moment and it frightens me to think of the damage their forwards could do to our defence. Keane is looking better but just isn't quick enough to play the high line. Holgate has pace but still makes too many mistakes and poor decisions.

I was also surprised to see (and reluctant to admit) how much Schneiderlin's injury and substitution affected us.

We are most definitely a work in progress but progress is being made and we are all just going to have to be patient.

Nice 3 points, only 36 more till we get to the 40 point mark a safety, 36 games remaining and 108 points to play for.

Nice to win as always, just a shame we let them back in when it was 2-0, if we hadn’t it could have been more comfortable, 3 or 4.
Richarlison looked good again, but I think Southampton will struggle again this season so these are the types of game we need to win, and we have done

Schneiderlin was quite good to be fair, I will not bash him just for the sake of doing so. Can't argue with his performance this game.
Once Davies got going he did alright too but we missed Schneiderlin's ability to keep the ball at times second half

Mark Hughes claiming pickford shoul have been sent off fo his challenge on ings lol
After his team tried to kick us off the park;)
Mark Hughes absolutely ruined his team's chances by bringing on a third striker when they were controlling the game. They didn't threaten afterwards. They'll go down with him in charge

Pickford - 6 - Great save but came from a mistake. Decent overall, couldn't stop their goal.

Coleman - 7 - Really good defensively, and got forward well but lacked the end product. Great to see him as captain.
Holgate - 7 - Composed on the ball, good in the air.
Keane - 6 - Got caught at times in the first half by Ings, but good overall.
Baines - 6 - Defended well, got forward when he could.

Schneiderlin - 7 - Looked very good when he was on the field. Big miss for us when he went off. Hopefully it's not serious and he continues that form!
Gueye - 6 - Hassled and pressed, sloppy on the ball at times.

Walcott - 7 - His second should have stood, missed a sitter. Great finish for the first, great cross for Richarlison's goal.
Sigurdsson - 7 - Pressed them all game and played some really nice passes (especially that one into Walcott).
Richarlison - 7 - Quiet start but grew into it after his goal. BARGAIN.

Tosun - 8 - Thought he was our best player. Ran their line ragged, stretched the game, held the ball up and linked the play brilliantly.

Nice just to see players having a go and not being scared to take players on and have a run.. some good build up of play today, good links between Tosun, Walcott and Richarlison. Some silly mistakes at the back though, Keane not strong enough for me, out of position too many times, on the wrong side of play a lot, not sticking with his man, playing long balls to nowhere.. Great to see Coleman in the captains armband.

Well in lids. Good win for you. Aside from Southampton always having been hideous fouling carts (Peter Rodrigues?) and are a League 1 side masquerading as footballers,I don't mind them.
Hughes though. Po faced whiner of the worst kind. He's an honorary Kopite with his weekly tales of hard done by fibbers.
