Makes you wonder why we gave him the freedom of goodison while he was on the pitch. It's obvious to anyone who watches the premiere league, he is their playmaker, Martinez refuses single out danger, look at yarmolenko in the game in kiev, had 40 yds to run into the whole game.
Even more frustrating,he identified Payet but did nothing for Stoke!

... I wouldn't be too disheartened (easy to say I know) as I thought some of Everton's attacking play was sublime, it's clear to see the usual Martinez defensive frailties in the side but 8/10 you play with that attacking intent you win the game.

Good luck for the rest of the season, I don't think a top 6 spot is beyond either team if they address their weaknesses in the New Year as attacking wise they're both a match for anyone in the league.....

We've played like that in all our games and we're 11th sir. Appreciate the positivity, but you cannot neglect defending, set pieces and corners for the sake of repeatedly flinging the ball in the box.

Christ knows why the world frowns on the likes of Pulis and Moyes, both dragged their sides from mediocrity into respected, credible Prem competitors. Neither side would enjoy the finances and expectations they do today without those guys.

Martinez football can be pleasing, you're spot on. His transfer record like Moyes is good. He now needs to step aside for a superior tactician.

I can,t bring myself to watch the highlights having sat in the ground and watched that collapse at the end.
Anyone catch site of Geri or ROM throwing the ball down in anger in the centre circled after the 3rd goal went in...least it shows the players feel as angry we do.

I have banged on about this before but our corner kicks are so bad.

Against Stoke, Barkley took one that as usual failed to beat the first man and in a moment Borjan and co. were up the other end.
Have you noticed the corner flags at Goodison have about 3/4 feet before you go off the grass down a step. watched ross taking our corners and he has to go up a step before trying to whip it in. Wonder if this is a ploy to stop good corners coming in at GP or if our players actually practice on the home pitch to get used to it.

Good point. It is quite a steep little slope they have to step up.

Hi. This is my first post on GOT, although I have been reading it for some time. I took my daughter to the Stoke game on Monday. It's the fourth match she's been to, the others being the Chelsea, Villa and Leicester games this season. I figure that with two victories (one more unexpected than the other) and two disappointing defeats she's getting a pretty good idea of what it's like to be an Evertonian. She's yet to see us snatch a draw from a game that we've dominated.

I thought Lukaku was outstanding against Stoke, not just the goals but popping up all over the pitch. His game has improved immeasurably since this time last year. I liked the way, after his first goal I think it was, he was grabbing the ball off the defender who'd picked it out of the net to get it back to the centre and get on with the game. It was Lukaku who threw the ball down in frustration after Stoke's third. He must be wondering how many he has to score or set up for us to win a game.

Barkley I thought was great going forward, but to be honest I wasn't impressed at all by much he did when he didn't have the ball. Geri didn't seem to get into the game as much as we'd like. He seemed pretty heavily marked.

Defensively we were all over the place. We gave far too much time and space on the ball to Stoke. Plus we were out of position so much there seemed to be loads of space for them to get in behind. I thought this was particularly a problem on our left (much as I like Galloway and think he's done well since he's been in the first team). We need to fix the defensive problems quickly before the run of games we have coming up in January.

Welcome mate, I think @davek may wish to speak with you about your post x

Just watching the full replay right now here in Australia. Deulofeu just put us up 3-2. Totally dominating. Could go on and score another one or more.

What on earth happens from here?
