Baines and Pienaar were awful in spells in the first half and a chunk of the second, lost the ball countless times.

We should've easily got a second but I think the shape completely went when Saha came on and we had no left winger. Untill them, we looked and played very well I thought.

As for their "goal" the ref was blowing for pushing and shirt pulling all game...linesman had his flag up straight away, and Tuncay did give a little shove in his back however minimal...not "controversial" at all in my book

Well if that was a goal we had scored and disallowed, fairly sure your opinion would change.

But we did win, and it's better than drawing. I just think we need to stick a flag in the ground and say were here to compete with big boys, and I didn't think we took that opportunity today.

But they did score a perfectly good goal mate.

Look happy with the win, not happy with the performance of the team. Individually we had a couple of good performances, Yak for example. But I felt we were pretty stand offish in defence, and not closing down enough.

Agreed we got a bit of luck, but i think in the main we imposed our game on them, Stoke are difficult side to beat, we lost points to them home and away last season, im impressed we managed to break down down, that progression for me. I think it was a good performence against a team that didnt want to play football.

Well I disagree, I thought we played within ourselves.

But on a happier note, this from Landon's twitter:

Feed the Yak and he will score...Feed the Yak and he will score! Up the Toffees!!!!!!!!!!

Just a few thoughts:

I think we JUST deserved the win. Thoroughly under par though, and Stoke made it as hard as I imagined they would. Pretty much went as predicted - we could barely work a clear goalscoring opportunity, though slightly surprisingly, it was their counter attacks which gave them the greatest threat.

I'd be fuming if I was a Stoke fan regarding their "goal", BUT we had a very credible penalty claim turned down and Probert was giving them absolutely everything as the game went on. Just relieved to get the 3 points, 4th clean sheet in 5 and the table is starting to look much better.

A very good win that, battled hard to get it. As I said in the preview, Stoke are not a bad team and they just proved it, strong all over the pitch and can play a bit when needed, we got a bit lucky with their disallowed goal mind.

We had 58% of the possession, which is very much us this season, but Stoke were tight in defence hence the lack of chances.

I thought we were good this afternoon, stood up to the physical threat and played our own game with patience. So, so pleased to see Yakubu grab a goal, he deserved that as he was excellent today and a massive important part of this side when we play 4-5-1.

We can tentatively say that the early season shiteness seems to be clearing, step by step were looking like what we were expecting this season.

Well in Everton. JOL OUT.

Yeah Probert was shocking. Barry Horne's analysis was even worse though. He said at least he's consistent in not giving fouls, and then he said but now he's inconsistent on giving fouls. 90 minutes of complete [Poor language removed] from the tit of Wrexham.

I wouldnt have to be fair. He blew up for 2 of our corners for shirt pulling and gave them fouls when there were nothing in it.

Ref just had a day where pushing and shirt pulling was off the menu so either way, I wouldnt have complained. And he blew pretty early for it - although Baines did go over like a wet leaf.

Anyone feel that Bilya looked a bit nifty just off the striker by the end? I did anyway.

Never a turer word spoken, the Yak is a back!

Antoher 3 points away at Blackpool next could leave us nicely poised, huge three points today!

I wouldn't say it was a good performance, could easily have gone the other way if they had taken some of their chances.

Been saying this since he arrived.

I think we were very lucky. We invited them on far too easily, and there not that good a team. Nothing wrong with their goal either. We need to improve though.

You're joking me? [Poor language removed], you're a hard one to please. Stoke are no bad team mate, I think today proved further evidence of that, they're like what we were for the first three years under Moyes.

I thought we done well today, that was a tough tough game. Lots of positives there so I'm bemused as to why you're focusing on the negatives pal.

Played a lot through the middle the first half too, splitting the defences...which I liked. Added to our game instead of relying on the left wing all the time. Mixed it up.

Going back to Bilya...see his nifty quick feet at the end? Telling ya...Tasty having him behind a striker me thinks.

Thought Cahill had another whinging fests today too. Good shot for the goal though

Hey it's just not me pal? I'm just being honest. I thought we were very lucky, they had more clear chances than we did. We invited pressure on towards the end, and didn't close down enough. Fortunately Stoke are not very good attacking and finishing chances.

As soon as we went 1-0 up we just sat back and invited them on. Of course a win is 3 points, but this is Stoke, not Chelsea or Man U.

I'm pleased with the result, just don't think it was a good performance
