Thought you really suffered without Cattermole, Rodwell was alright but isn't the same. M'Vila was very poor, which I was surprised at. You missed Lens and Toivonen
Losing Catts was a huge blow still think you's would've won but maybe not by 4 had he stayed on. Can see why Sam didn't play Lens as he offers nothing in way of support for the full back and thats what you don't want when your LB is PVA. Toivonen really wasn't a miss mate Kaboul and JOS were and agree Yann was poor today hes a class act though usually, far too good for a dogturd side like us :(

Could only be Everton when you come out at the end winning 6-2 and we're going on about how poor we've been!!gotta say defensively yet again we were atrocious,Mori was decent but Stones I feel has started to believe his own publicity,we're not cutting off balls into the box with our full backs either, however, some of the stuff we played at times and with a cutting edge was sublime:)

Not a case of believing his hype at all. We switched off for 5 minutes either side of half-time and were punished. The first goal was on Stones, who should have been more alert to Defoe's run. More at fault for the second getting beat in the air by Fletcher.

That's the first time the two have played together in the league. And bare in mind this is a 21-year-old and a 24-year-old (playing just his 6th/7th game). They will improve if the back four can stay settled. Galloway wasn't at his best today either, and actually should have won the ball in the build-up to the first Sunderland goal, and it as a real shame to see Oviedo go off injured.

Attacking wise, we were class, best in a long time. Sunderland are pony, though.

Totally agree mate. Thought we looked really poor at times yet we have so much quality that when it clicks periodically we are capable of the some brilliant football.

We're like a badly tuned 1990's maserati, some quality engineering mixed with some cheap components capable of breaking down any moment or giving you the ride of your life under the right conditions.

Investment, some upgrading of components and further work on the engineering is all that's required.

Wonderfully put that mate. We can be looking so impressive but there's always that danger of self destruction. As you say, with a bit of fine tuning we could very well be looking at the CL places. There's clearly and undoubtedly more than enough quality in our squad for realising that. One thing that doesn't need any fine tuning is our football on the break. We're probably the best in the league, or at least very near the top at that already.

And a new garage.

Defoe and that young ginge who came on caused us problems. I think the inexperience of our central defence showed at times. Their first goal for example, Mori was watching and could see Defoe was closing down Stones at pace, did he give him a call to just clear his lines? On the other hand they are both very comfortable with the ball at their feet.
