That's what I said.
You then attack a load of straw men.

Challenge it or ignore it are both fine.
They're the public body I pay my council / income tax to to stop things like rape.
They're not an edgy stand up comedian with no one to answer to but themselves.
Hope no one gets sacked but still.
What's next the home office twitter account making jokes about terrorism?
Lid lighten up. I don't think the person tweeting there smited all rape victims. It was a bit of light hearted engagement with someone on Twitter.

The moral outcry over such things is turning society into a sterile environment where people are petrified into being overly PC.

Personally I hope that accounts retweets Ched Evans next.

The problem here was a non-PC PC
It's a public service account, shouldn't be for banter and fannying around whoring for likes/retweets

Yeah maybe.
I'm not offended. I'm not outraged. I just think it's stupid.
That's an account that exists solely for Merseyside police to communicate with the public and if the police can't even take rape seriously then who else will?
It wasn't even funny at all, if you're gonna go there at least make sure it's worth it.

To be fair mate, the police have been at the forefront of not taking rape allegations seriously and generally making women feel like it's their fault if they've been raped.

Getting publicly involved in rape joke banter doesn't look good. Same as if they made light of institutional racism. Or deaths in police custody.

because people need to take what it posts seriously, and people should have some sort of confidence there is a professional at the other end (Even if it is just a jumped up spotty 18 year old PCSO who watches porn all day)

Yeah maybe.

You're worse than Mary Whitehouse and all perfect victims of self important society.

I hope Ched Evans slams every single one of your birds.

Mersey Police are notorious in this aspect.. don't really care about the tweet. Ill advised to respond to the original tweet, but the furore has been ott
