Any truth in the rumours that there's a big drinking culture at Sunderland?

Who's our resident S'land fan?

Big job for Big Sam.

Been rumours around for years. No smoke without fire. Club is rotten and how we've stayed up for so long is beyond me.

Worst part is other than the two games v Newcastle I just don't seem to care anymore. Same old crap different season.

Very occasionally, in a very specific context, rape jokes can be funny.
Like when you're with your friends, in private, and you can be 100 percent sure everyone present knows it's just a joke.
For a police department in the most public of forums to indulge though, that's utterly bang on.
Way out of order.
Nothing better to do with our money than make light of one of the most serious crimes you're charged with preventing?
Foolish IMO.
It's foolish at most, but personally the uproar doesn't correspond to the events. An individual, who is not linked with the police, implied the joke.

From what I can read, the police enquired if it was a serious remark and then made a slightly light-hearted reply about Sunderland's pants down.

Have they endorsed rape and other such actions or neglected their duties with their comment? No.

Or should they have acted swiftly by lambasting the individual for their crass comments? Ignore it? Still, I'm sure someone will lose their job.

Could understand why to be honest. The North East football scene has long fascinated/horrified me. Like Newcastle and Sunderland, 2 very well supported clubs, (will leave the tedious bigger then me debate), attract odd owners, have odd managers, and never seem to learn their lessons.

And I am baffled why Newcastle have produced a pretty impressive list of not just decent, but brilliant players, but Sunderland have introduced Jordan Henderson and, I think, Stuart Pearson(?) to the world. Odd.

Probably worth a thread on its own. @Sunderland afc

We've got a Darron Gibson in good condition if you're interested? He'd fit right in.

That's what I said.
You then attack a load of straw men.

Challenge it or ignore it are both fine.
They're the public body I pay my council / income tax to to stop things like rape.
They're not an edgy stand up comedian with no one to answer to but themselves.
Hope no one gets sacked but still.
What's next the home office twitter account making jokes about terrorism?

Don't get me wrong, after we have witnessed the past 2 seasons I'll take it!
But is Sunderland's keeper just maybe worse than ours? Terrible display for a few of the goals.
