Starting teams should reflect our priorities this week.

Kone

City game:

I'd rest Barry on Sunday too. He's important so not sure I'd risk him playing twice in a few days at his age.

Keep him fresh for Wednesday.

Does it really matter though? Top 4 is long gone, not really bothered if we finish on 45 or 55 points.
Of course it matters. We go on about not winning trophies, but just winning matches is probably more important over time.

The difference between 45 and 55 points probably means losing three games instead of winning them.

Excellent read sir, 9/10.

Very fair appraisal of the managerial position as well which gives credence to the theory that you are merely wumming and polarising in the Martinez thread. Spot on about Mirallas and Baines in particular.

We should smash these 3-2. We'll always concede goals but should have too much at the business end of the pitch for this lot.

Of course I want to win but the most important thing is no injuries.

Let's face it we're not going to be top 4 and if we have to be in the Europa let it come with silverware attached.

Tar. The Manager thread is dominated now by two clearly defined and opposed camps who point score of each day game by game, or indeed day by day.

As a result it squeezes out any Evertonian with moderate views. It's absolutely fine to say "I just don't know" or cheese on toast, for a better expression.

This forum grew as being a place you could disagree with other blues but get along sound. Would be a shame if the key debates relating to the club are all dominated by polarisation. If I was a new blue on the forum I'd swerve that thread and that's a pity.

I'm perma self-threadbanned now, alas. Which is a shame as my view on the managerial position is very much that which you articulated in this preview.

Enjoyed that! Not a huge amount of match preview there but liked the views on the current state of the team and management thereof. Under Moyes I always remember praying for us to get a goal and now it is the total opposite, but I'd say it's better this way. Just need to back him and hope he can sort out the defence a bit. And stop saying cringey stuff to the press, like that rubbish about Byram.

It's a pain in the arse isn't it? You think it's boss then you hate it.

It's probably the most Everton management ever.

I don't really experience those extremes tbh. In general I don't think it's going to work out in the long term for the simple reason that I believe we will always concede too many goals under Roberto. However, jibbing him off at this point would be daft as the squad which he has assembled has to be given the chance to show if it can succeed. And changing managers would mean the start of a rebuilding process again which is not a recipe for long term success - a point you made in the preview with the examples of other clubs.

And we might win a cup along the way. So although it may be a bumpy ride I'm strapped in for the next 2 seasons. *fastens seat belt

Mind you I'll still give out when it's not going well like.

Disagree. If, and it's a big if, we can put a run of victories together we can still make a run at the European spots. It's too early to give up on the league
