Now the dust has settled a bit. Taking everything into account
Were we that poor V WBA or was it more to do with a Pulis masterclass in setting your team out not to loose?
Personally I think its 50/50. They played the same way the week before at West Ham and drew yet little was made of that.

It certainly wasn't a new problem, what happened on Monday. It happened a few times last season (including against West Brom), a few times this season and happened regularly under Moyes as well. Teams come to Goodison and play like that to take a point, and we're often not good enough to break it down.

Doesn't make it feel any better though.

A bit of both - WBA didn't even look like winning it, we did at times. If Baines had taken that pen we'd have won.

We had 4 shots on goal, they had none.

We're putting unnecessary pressure on the team, I feel.

It is the dearth of shots on goal that annoys me more than owt else.

When play gets bogged down on the edge of the opposition box, teeing one of our men up to try a howlitzer would be a better option than going sideways or backwards IMO

Had the penalty been scored, West Brom would have had to put the bus in gear to get the game level. We'd have taken them apart then. The fact that we didn't get that first goal means that they just had to keep the doors shut. Can't really blame anyone but Mirallas here.

As an away fan, i felt like there was a lot of good play from you but no end product, but i don't think you guys played that badly. We came out to stop you scoring rather than grabbing a goal ourselves, and i feel like the frustration comes from the fact that you are still in the dogfight as much as the rest of us. That said, you'll be absolutely fine i have no doubt.

Everything you said is true, apart from the fact that we're not "in the dogfight". Being realistic, we're nowhere near getting relegated and it will never happen. We're about as close to being relegated this season as we were close to winning the title last season.

An interesting perspective. Was there anything positive to be had for us from our not giving your attackers a sniff, or was it just that you weren't remotely interested in going forward?

They had Chebes up front mate, their attack getting a sniff was never on the cards.

As someone stated earlier, the main problem is not mixing it up abit, when baines hit a 20 yard shot against West Brom, the crowd lifted, thats how mad football is, one shot from distance and we applauded it, i feel Barkley and the full backs should do more of it. All in all when the dust settles, we werent that bad against WBA.

There was an occasion late on when Ross picked up the ball and ran into their box.

A bit of space opened up, he shaped up to shoot, didn't, carried the ball furthe for half a yard, another space opened, he shaped to shoot, didn't, carried on for another half a yard, ran into their human shield and the ball was cleared.

The whole season encapsulated in one cameo.
