Why has he shoehorned Stones back into the side ? I hope we batter these but not as confident as I was. I'm sure that Bobby knows what he is doing though..........

I think he had to mate, West ham are dangerous and our defending at home is questionable to say the least. May be a great move, could totally back fire.

At least something different
They tried it at villa for 15 minutes or so and we looked lost.
This could now get scary today

Or, and this is a guess really, he can't not have Stones in the team, and we already have 2 good CB's in good form.

I'm actually fuming 'ere. Hope this works, but this is pretty silly.

He can bench stones, he owes him nothing.

Worked at Wigan, he loves the 3-4-3 and bigger it up a couple of years ago. Think its a clever move

(May regret that come 5pm tiday)

Because Barry isn't fully fit and neither is Besic.

But if that's the case, don't put them on the bench is my view. They're either fit enough to play or they're not.

If Barkley is sitting deeper, I've got no issue with the formation. He could be really effective driving from centre mid.

If he gets lost in the final third, McCarthy doesn't stand a chance.

Barry and Besic are both on the bench - if they're fit enough for the bench, they should be fit enough to play a sizeable portion of the game.

I don't see the need for the system change personally when you could have started Barry and replaced with Besic after 60.

Ah well, we'll see, might work out well. Big game for Mirallas - he simply has to turn up and impact the game from the start. The odds of him doing so are about 1 in 5.

It's tough for Mirallas to get up and running when he's left warming the bench most weeks and has to watch Kone and cleverly plodding around out there

He played the last game, he's as fit as anyone else, no excuses.

He needs to take his chance and impress for a change. Consistently.

Tbh think The change is because Barry is too ill to last 90 mins and all of Besic/Cleverley/Gibson lack enough fitness to survive against a West Ham that press at lot.

Doubt we'd see the same lineup if Barry wasn't sick.
I see where you are coming from mate but changing to 3 at the back is too much of a risk.
He should have kept the same system and just replaced barry
