He can bench stones, he owes him nothing.

Worked at Wigan, he loves the 3-4-3 and bigger it up a couple of years ago. Think its a clever move

(May regret that come 5pm tiday)
Judging by the fact Stones has been back and instantly in the team, and given the other fact he keeps calling him "the best" every other week, even when he's injured - I'd say he probably does want to shoehorn him in.

I'd love us to win, but this is quite frankly unnecessary right now. It did work, to an extent, at City a few years ago where Barkley scored a screamer in the first few minutes, but we'll see how it goes.

In fact, he play stones as a sweeper or anchor man, using his ability to bring the ball out if defence and allow jags and mori to defend.

I'm excited to see how this goes. The fun can start in 2 and a half hours for me

Start our only 3 CBs in the same match...

What odds can you get that 2 of them will get injured?

You can stop trying to be not arsed about losing the best young centre half in the world now lads - we've just got a billionaire on the board.

Stones is top drawer. Him being in the side is a non-issue; the only thing that may be is the shape.

Obviously no one knows what goes on in practice.

Might be something they have been working on in practice for a while now that Stones has been fit. The end of the game at Villa was a trial run where some kinks could be worked out on film and might be his preferred line-up. It could be dictated by injury/illness. A lot of people think Barkleys long term position is deeper. I for one will not fume if it doesn't come off. I'll be disappointed in the loss if it happens. But sometimes you break eggs when making an omelet. Or are forced into decisions because of injury.

None of us have all the info that went into the decision

Wigan were relegated playing with this formation. Has worked wonders for Saints though so this might be a stroke of genius or an absolute catastrophe.

Why change the back 4?
Complete lack of minerals from Bobby to tell stones to sit on the bench till he gets his chance due injury or bad performances.
Do one brown shoes.

Or, he's tried to switch something up at home in an attempt to change how the results have been going???

He gets accused of not changing and when he does gets stick?

Also, it may even be Stones in midfield. We'll know when we kick off

Certainly different. Maybe proactive. Bombing full backs?

Should at least mess up West Ham who might have prepared for us to go 4-2-3-1.

IIRC that's the role he played Heitinga/Stones in his first pre-season with us, in the games against Juve and someone else (can't remember who) and we played surprisingly well.
