It's not guile we needed, it's just pace, but more importantly movement off the ball. It was non existant.
Agree we lack pace but against a 2 banks playing deep there is little space for traditional pace on the wing as nowhere to run into. The first liwn of 5 just shuffles across if it goes wide to outnumber the full back and winger combination as we saw many times.

We need to learn to break the lines, either by a centre back driving through the first line, or a special pass.

would have took the 0-0 the way game was going, but you know this been us you know this almost nearly always happens, that we conceed late if level or ahead by 1,so bad. nothing more we can say other than say i would have been happy with a point from that performance

I would have celebrated a draw like a win if we’d scored late on there. We were never scoring tho. Every ball played was a disaster. Every set piece played straight to Ogbonnas bonce FFS.

Mina was the best of an utterly horrific bad bunch but I've gone for Gomes who came on and at least offered a bit of urgency and purpose.

That truly was a shocking performance and shows you how far we've got to go. We need replacements for Coleman, Davies, Gylfi, Bernard and a better option than just relying on a sulking one trick pony like Richarlison who has been nothing short of woeful.

...Gomes looked comfortable in that position a little further forward, be interesting if Ancelotti tries that.

In that situation, we really needed players who break the defensive lines by running past the opposition and drawing defenders. I think Doucoure tried that but love him or loathe him, Iwobi is that type as is Gordon in his best form.

What I hate about Everton are all the whiney fans who flip flop with their opinions about players by the second. You should all look in the mirror and see what's really responsible for the situation at our club and that's constant moaning and no consistent backing for our players. We win one, two, three, four games and everybody loses their minds: "We will pull a Leicester." Where is the humility and the realism? We lose one game and suddenly we're bound for a decade and the Championship and all our players are lousy. How would you perform at your jobs if everytime you had a just about average day at work and people would start booing and hurling insults at you? We're the Schalke to Liverpool's Dortmund. You know what good supporters get right? They maintain a sense for real life and they back even their most mediocre players as their own. Get behind Davies, get behind Siggy, get behind Seamus. Especially the disrespectful slander against Seamus is so infuriating. Sure, we need better players. But defecating all over a humble, loyal servant to our club who happens to be as decent a human being as seems possible for a modern football, I can't understand this nonsense. We have to be better as fans. Especially those that frequent Goodison. I'll catch a lot of flack for this, but most of you will know there's truth to this.
I agree about singling out Coleman, but he along with many others on the pitch gave unacceptable performances. Yes some fans get carried away with a couple of wins, however what we are all sick of is abject performances like this when we had the chance to go second.

They came on we looked more balanced and more of a threat going forward than we had before they came on, now it may not have been a huge difference but it was better than what went on before.

Nah we were better in the first half than the second IMO, and it was that team we lost with!
It was James, so I think people immediately saw some massive improvement, but I personally think Bernard did a lot better than James did today. But James' coming back from injury so kinda understandable....
If it was Bernard or Siggy who played like James just did he'd have been slated though. Wrongly in my opinion because it was a bad/sluggish team performance all round but I really didn't see any improvement from the subs. Just my opinion though...
