It dismays me that Moyes says that Wigan's win was nothing to do with tactics and that we just had a bad day at the office. Whereas Martinez shows his delight that their game plan to stop our full backs getting forward worked a charm. Before now our manager has said that "tactics aren't rocket science" and it seems to be that he doesn't think very deeply about the game at all.
 
I see Fellani was unable to attend a signing session at Everton TWO this afternoon due to 'unforeseen circumstances'. Another snub to the most important people at the club!!!
 
Since we last won it in '95 there have only been two winners outside the Big Four of United, Chelsea, City and Arsenal. Liverpool beat West Ham in 2005 and Portsmouth overcame Cardiff in 2007. It was a great chance to get to the final again this year but United, City or Chelsea would probably have too much for us.
 
Wigan were too much for us and Oldham weren't far off either. Come to think of it we've struggled against Norwich, Q.P.R, Reading, Wigan (in the league), Aston Villa, Leeds... so much for 'the best squad' DM has had in eleven years.
 

Still fuming. Had our lucky break this year in not having to face any of the top clubs on the way to the final, and Moyes and his players bottle it. Out thought by the tactical mastermind that is Roberto Martinez.
 
it says alot to me that victor anichebe was the only player who seemed to really be putting the effort in when he came on.

If this is true it is absolutely unforgiveable! Jim Beglin got it right about 10 minutes into the game (makes a change!) when he said the two central midfield players for Wigan are better footballers than the two from Everton!

Nearly every Evertonian could see that before a ball was kicked. worrying isnt it.
 
it wasnt just the chance to win the cup it was having the backdrop of getting into the europa league aswell.

it will be 6 seasons now since we got into the europe league group stages, (5 years we got knocked out in the qualifiers), In those 5 years a lot of our players were in the peak and never got the chance to test themselves.
also now means we lose europe as an incentive to sign or loan some half decent players, unless we pay over the top in wages
