I'll risk the ire of people on here, and i hope people on here dont see this as me having a dig because its not, but you are just one of a number of clubs who are just also rans in this league now. Everton, just like us, are fighting for 7th place at best, and are a fair way from breaking the top 4. Your history, just like ours, is irrelevant these days. Its been 39 years since we won a major trophy, and 25? years for you guys? It shapes who we are as clubs, but it means very little in the scheme of things these days.

I'm not sure how anyone is going to consistently break into that top 4 battle. I dont really know how your owners operate, or how much financial backing they are providing, but from the outside looking in considering you are such an established club you dont seem to be attracting many top class footballers. You could probably enlighten me as to why that is. Cant quite work out if you fella's think Silva is a good manager or you want him gone! You seem to spend plenty, but it doesn't seem to be getting you where i'd guess you are expecting to be so probably your recruitment is an issue? Everton would be a club club we would have been looking to aspire to tbh, but i think we have already got to your level this season. I dont think its a lack of humility for us to be confident in what we are capable of achieving, but there is no doubt its still early days for us.

What i do know is our owners are openly ambitious, have huge amounts of money to spend ( which also doesnt mean a great deal unless we can get creative with FFP or somebody gets it abolished ) and we have some great connections through Mendes I dont actually think at the moment from what i have seen this season, we are that far away from the likes of United and Arsenal. We are a lot better than some on here think we are, but at the same time we are only 7th for a reason, and thats because we are inconsitent. What we probably need is a couple more players like Moutinho, who tbh has been an absolute revelation, to give us that consistency we need to kick on. It wouldn't surprise me if we put 3 past you or if we got beaten 2-0, and i'd say thats the same for a lot of clubs in and around us.
Come back to us this time next year and see if this is still true. Seen it every few years in the league.

I know Wolves fans are excited and why not. A word of caution. There’s only a dozen teams who have stayed in the Premier throughout. There’s a reason for that. It’s incredibly hard to sustain it. Plenty have one good year or two and sink like a stone. There’s usually about 8 teams each season who are very nervous in April, who could drop. You will have to keep building year on year and it’s not that easy.

We're not a club who has spent most of our history outside the top division. We're a Premier League ever-present.

Fairly sure over the majority of our history we haven't been out of the top flight. Our recent history we have, but tbf we were assett stripped and run into the ground by a couple of middle eastern shysters which took us a while to recover from.

We are!

In all honesty though, the thing that will probably stop us and sides like yourself breaking into the top 4 and really challenging is FFP. We have ridiculously rich owners, one of them by himself is worth over 7 billion, and they are football mad. If they could they would buy their way to success. You can't do that anymore. If you could I'm sure you would have seen a lot more quality at our club and probably others as well.

The problem is when the 7th placed trophy becomes an end in itself.

Granted, I would take the sort of stability we had under Moyes over the rubbish of the last 4 seasons, but we had a decade of being the big white hope of the Premier League, finishing 5th or 6th each year, and never capitalised on the opportunities.

Now, there's a top six instead of a top four. Wolves fans should just try to enjoy the next few seasons. Relatively speaking, you have come a long way. That's the difference between you and us. I imagine most Wolves fans would quite happily stabilise as a Premiership club over the next decade. But we have been through the mill short of relegation in a boom to bust way. With the money spent and relative starting bases, Wolves should be more than happy with their current position. Everton, manifestly, should not be.

Not sure why you're coming on an Everton forum trying to proclaim that you're in any way shape, or form, on our level. You have to earn that right to be mentioned alongside a club that has our pedigree.

We've had years upon years of mismanagement, we've also been asset stripped, and yet we never sunk to your lows.

We blitz Wolves in terms of fanbase, honours, and we can match anyone outside of Manchester City for money.

You haven't even sold your allocation out for tomorrow's game.

In all likelihood, you'll be dropping down the divisions again within the next 5 years.

Fair post I think. I'd put Wolves in the 'proper club' category. I think a lot of the younger folk on here wont realise what a history Wolves have in the game. I agree with the bit in bold too, it highlights the chasm between our group of teams and the top four, a lack of consistency. A high scoring draw is my pick 2-2 or 3-3.

Yep, Agree we have to keep progressing. I do think the difference you will find with us is our owners. Could be a different story if they lose interest.

you are doing ok , just stay up for a few years establish yourself as a prem team, and you will have as good a chance as anyone to have a go at the top 6 spots, takes some doing to get in that top 4 and to stay there ,so top 6 might be a more realistic target.
We are a mess it will take time to sort out , to much dross on the books , be at least 2 seasons for us to make much progress upwards.

If we really do fancy finishing 7th, then this is yet another 'must win' game.

I just hope for a good performance and a clean sheet.

Pickers looks to have found the confidence that was last seen in the 95th minute at the other lot and the defence, dare I say it, looked quite solid at Huddersfield. If we can only get some 'sexy' football organised up front then we are not too far away from being 'best of the rest' again.

I'm not making out as a club overall we are on your level, but currently as it stands we are. We are competeing around the same level. We are two points better off than you currently. Not saying either way if it will last, but you cant really argue in football terms we are at pretty similar levels right now.

I'm sure you dont sell your allocation every week. Our away support is fine though.

Tbh mate, i'd love to have been mismanged the way you have. Its nowhere near on a scale we were in the early eighties. Not expecting a fan from another club to know the situation we had, but it was horrendous.

Yep, you have won more honors than us, but thats all in the past. We pionered European football, but it means nothing when you havent won a trophy in decades. Its as i said just something that shapes a football club, it doesnt define its future though.

Yep, i'd agree, Moshiri is rich, net worth about $1.7 billion U.S. Not sure how much the Fosun group are worth overall, but the main man Guo Guangchang is worth about $6.2 billion U.S. Technically, you cant match us for money.

I'm pretty positive Fosun are in it for the long haul. We wont be dropping down the leagues.

Cant quite work out what your issue is with us tbh. I havent been abusive or disrespectful. As i mentioned before, i wouldnt expect a fan of another club to take an interest in whats going on elsewhere, but if you did you would see we have huge ambition and our owners have high expectations and want to go places. Time will tell how they go with that, but we are all pretty positive about it.
