Everton Youth Teams Thread

Good result and good work out for Funes. Evans took his goal well but gave the ball away a lot today - never stops trying though.

Some comedy moments from the ref who faffed around talking to both linesmen while their centre-forward was substituted before he was sent off.

Markelo improving every time I see him.

Our finishing back four of Markelo, Feeney, Collins , Gibson had an average age of 18 , looking good for the future. And I thought young Alex Denny had a sound game, but not much entertainment really.

..yep, didn’t create a lot given the dominance and were wasteful when one came along. I agree that the young defenders were the best to take out of that although i’d have liked to see Gibson getting forward a bit more.

Thought the game was competitive, even combative at times, lacked quality in the final third from both sides.
Barnsley edged the first half, Blues much the better of the second half.
Silly penalty, stop messing around and hit the thing.
Excellent finish for the goal.
Well done ;)

Anyone else read the Weekend RS Echo report on the U23s derby? Seems we were hammered but somehow went 3 up in the first half.
Looks to me like the RS Echo were supplied the report by the RS themselves. Noticeable that the report only mentioned one substitution - -- by the RS of course -- and at the end of the report the team listings only included the full detail of the RS substitutions.

We were hammered.

Thats par for the course for them, scoreline is irrelevant we were thrashed 3-1. The true story is we annihilated Their best under 18's with several young players.

They had more U18's if I remember correctly and annihilated we did not. Not sure how we won, clinical is the best word to describe it.

Edit: By U18's I mean like from the lower age bracket.

Interesting article. For those of us who have wondered aloud why Gordon hasn't been pushed to the U23s:

“Anthony went away as top scorer, he’s come back and has remained top scorer and he’s probably ready to move onto the next level in terms of his technical ability and scoring of goals, he’s just not physically ready for that.

“He’s still a baby.
