Everton Youth Teams Thread

Game over Leicester again like the league game here 2 montha ago, score 2 goals last 5mins or so to come from 1 down to win 2-1 to top the prem league cup group, both through to next round

Next EVERTON U23S GAME a week today [monday] v swansea u23s at GOODISON PARK ,7pm ko in the prem league 2

Shocking play by our lads, it was hard to tell from the replay if it was hand ball by Evans, he didn’t seem to complain though.

And there 1st goal was so poor, free header in the box across to the back post, then a tap in. The goal Keeper should have easily had that, had to be on his toes anticipating, has plenty of time to react. Didn’t watch the whole game but did we switch to a back 5 late on?
Unsworth trying to be to clever for his own good

U18, u 23s, first team, what’s that about 5 defeats on the bounce, not good. Positives tonight ? Well Denny for me was our best player. He seemed to go quiet at the start of the season, being dropped by England may have hit his confidence, but he looked very composed tonight. Good to see Anthony Gordon getting U23s game time and showing what he can do. Gibson looked good for long periods but didn’t seem to have the leadership presence we get with Feeney. Ryan Astley on the bench was interesting, I think we have to go back to the days os Kenny and Ryan Ledson since we last had a schoolboy in our U21/ u23 team.

What position does Astley play

He’s a centre back, captains Wales U17 team and has been given a Scholarship for the July intake of 1st Year Scholars. There’s a bunch of five Wales U17s players who are on our books that have been together for a few years progressing through our teams and together through the Welsh age groups. Two have also been award Scholarships along with Astley, not sure about the other two. Wales of course are traditionally quite weak at this level so I’m not reading too much into this, but on the other hand its better than not being selected for their U17s !

Everton u18s can go 1 point from top,and move back to 2nd tomorrow [game in hand based on leaders],due to most games been cancelled in the u18s league,as we are playing sunderland u18s with a 12.30ko [game still on at min],this is the 1st of 2 home games in 3 days,so win both and they go top

Next season ;)

..very much doubt it, Matey, especially with the arrival of Walcott and return of Coleman. We were struggling so much for a large part of the season on the right side and i’m convinced these two would have been better than anything we had because they were a proven partnership, especially effective in the top third.

Stick Walcott out left (our weakest position) and Dowell right, Kenny to rotate with Coleman if he keeps picking up knocks. Sorted.
