Everton Youth Teams Thread

Virginia looks an excellent signing great agility came and dominated the penalty area from corners and has very good feet ,Brands done great to get this lad from arsenal,I like Sambou honestly think if he was given the chance he could do well looks to have gained a lot more strength and got between two cbs to finish superbly (one of which cost 14m in the summer)

I’ve neber rated Sambou at all. From the U23’s the only people I can see getting a go at first team level are:

Virginia
Gibson
Feeney
Adeniran
Bowler
Evans
Hornby
Markelo
Gordon
Williams
Denny
Mampala
Bowler and Adeniran in particular are odd ones I think (not odd picks by you, I mean odd career development). They've both played senior football for Championship clubs, both turn 20 before the end of the season, both get talked about highly by many who see them, and yet they seem to quite regularly be on the bench for the under 23s. You would expect them to be a little bit further on in their development really, particularly Bowler who cost a fair bit.

Bowler seemed to take a while to settle last season and we only started seeing him take a leading position end of the season with Evans in the middle. Now Evans has been shoved out wide so he’s dropped.

Adeniran was automatic starter with Beni before his injury and now haven’t seen him since.

I think after the 31st we’ll see both of them back in the team again. At the minute trying to squeeze Williams, Browning, Galloway and Pennington into the team is really wrecking the potential starting XI.

The goals

Isn't Ellis Simms the lad we pinched from City last season?. I was really impressed with him in a pre season tournament last year and then was surprised when we didn't see too much of him in the U18s last season.

This lad certainly seems to have filled out since I last saw him and looks a good 6 inches taller than the others. The two finishes in that particular clip are outstanding, even better given one was with his left and the other with his right. That makes it 3 in 2 games.

I don't over egging kids this age but I'll be keeping an eye in this one.

Yes bud from City last Summer. Always been a big lad, I was worried he maybe would fall into the “looks good because he hit puberty first” bracket but he’s technical. Him and Mampala/Adedoyin should score a ton really at that level.

Not sure those words will give hewellt great confidence haha.

Why does it say he was only leant to the youth team for one game? He's still young, shouldn't he just be our first choice for u23s all season and maybe we can decide whether he can be second choice next season?

Hewelt is piss poor imo. I think Hilton came in last season and looked far more solid.

I would say once we stop playing the dross, and assuming at all levels we’ll play 4-3-3, this would arguably be our strongest XI:

Virginia

Bramall
Feeney
Gibson
Foulds

Markelo
Adeniran
Evans

Bowler
Hornby
Broadhead/Mampala

Back-ups from: Hilton, Con, Astley, Denny, Gordon, Sambou, Lavery

I feel it’s time to get rid of Charsley, he’s been decent but turns 22 in November and still doesn’t have a set position. We really are starved in both full-back positions though.

Unless they leave, there's no way we'll stop playing those players though. Not a chance that we're having 4/5 lads earning senior wages not even playing for the under 23s, it would be madness and would make it even more difficult to shift them.

Think that's fair comment. Also the injuries to Feeney and Gibson may be holding up loan deals for the older defenders. Not sure when either are back.
