Yes but I wouldn't say anywhere near being able to make an impression with the 1st team with us or any of those teams supposedly after him.
Need to get him signed up on decent length contract

...well he has played in the EL and was involved in the recent game against the Kenyan team. I think that indicates how highly he’s rated despite his age.

There was a similar story about Arsenal being after Ryan Astley last month. I don’t think we’ve given professional contracts to any of our current u18s, which in theory makes them all vulnerable to other clubs coming in. Gordon is the highest profile because of his first team debut and England appearances, but you could also include Simms, Adeydoyin, Kyle John, Bobby Carroll and Astley as players who have stood out and are vulnerable as they are over 17 , the age when professional contracts can be offered.

The Academy does a pretty good job of monitoring players and having development plans in place, so we’re unlikely to lose players we want to keep. In the next few months we’ll start to give out contracts , and the flip side of that is telling those who won’t be kept on. You want to give them as much time and opportunity to impress but also be fair to them and allow them to find another club if they can.

Just watched a video from Everton training and noticed Charlsey training with the 1st team and I think I caught a glimpse of Sambou right at the end as well

Broadhead, Charsley, Sambou etc. training to fill the gap from the youth internationals.
