Everton Youth Teams Thread

Gordon should have scored that glancing header there, should be 1 up, The change of formation the Leicester com say Everton have made, and gone back to the trusted unsworth system seems to have made a difference 2nd half

Leicester's Darnell Johnson, sent off for pulling back Hornby when he was set for the run at goal on 54mins

Kyle John Replaces Markelo on 60mins

Kyle John sidefoot to easy for the keeper there at the back post, maybe should have made the keeper work harder, and should maybe have scored

The champions Everton u23s start with a 0-0 Draw home to Leicester, playing against 10 men for last 35mins,they were better 2nd half compared to 1st half to me,anyway next u23s league game is away to wolves sunday with 2pm ko,i dont think its live on wolves website etc as cant remember if they even showed any games last season-[i dont think they did] - wolves started the season with a 2-0 defeat away to Brighton

....there was a story linking him with a loan move to a Scottish club a few weeks ago. I imagine he’ll be in demand because he’s got the physicality to cope and he’s not scared of putting a shift in.

He’s a converted striker and we must’ve thought enough of him to play him in a EL match a while ago. A career in the game beckons but it’s likely he’ll move on.
t urn him back to a midfielder , gets about the pitch well and the right size for a modern centre mid

We’re never going to have an under 23 team full of 18 year olds, it’s just not practical.

These players are under contract and being paid, we’re not just going to axe them. Reports are that we got £4m for browning in January, someone you would have refused to pick. Losing out on £4m just so there’s some new teenagers for people to fanboy over is not a good strategy in my eyes, and I think brands agrees.

The big issue with loans, are that it's not as straightforward to get teams to take players on loan. Our under 23's play against league 1/2 opposition in a trophy and are generally on a competitive level with them. The idea Championship teams are going to be cuing up to take lads, develop them over their own young players just to have to hand them back to us when they can't afford them doesn't make sense to me.

We clearly want to loan Feeney out, but I can only imagine nobody has come in. It's now an easy stick to use to say it's Unsworth refusing to let them go out. Maybe there's a bit of that in there, but maybe there's just not the interest in them?

Way too many guys in that team have already had an entire season in the u23s and should be going on loan. Even League 1 or Scotland are better than these games. Either loan them or sell them. Guys like Evans and Connolly are probably at the point that they should be going permanently. Gibson and Gordon have both shown enough in preseason that they should be going somewhere to try and kick on. Unsworth gets a lot of blame but he isn't going to develop anyone on his own because that league just isn't up to standard.
