Everton Youth Teams Thread

The day that Tom Davies made his Everton debut Liam Walsh played 90 minutes for Yeovil away at Bristol Rovers, so I don’t think that’s true actually.

Im sure the story was that we loaned Walsh out, just before we got an injury in the senior squad, he would have been the replacement in the squad, but too late, and had to use Davies.

Yeah I think it’s just one of those urban myths. People liked Walsh and ledson and had assumed they were next in line. When it didn’t happen they made the facts fit the story rather than the other way round. It’s been repeated that many times that it’s kind of become accepted as the truth.

Walsh had been on loan since January, his loans had been extended twice by the time Davies played in April. Davies wasn’t really picked in an emergency, when he made his debut off the bench we also had Barkley and pienaar on the bench, so it wasn’t like we really needed a midfielder to pick. When he made his full debut we had Barkley, osman and cleverley on the bench. He got into the side on merit, but unfortunately he’s stagnated a bit.

i think connolly made his debut in that match too?

read something in the echo that gordon could be in contention for a spot on the bench on saturday, probably bollocks
Maybe a different article but I interpreted it as with Gomes, Delph and Schneiderlin likely being unavailable then one of Adeniran, Benigime or Markelo could be covering on the bench, which has a degree of credibility.
So far in his tenure Silva hasn’t had any youngster make his debut PL appearance on the bench. Just stating a fact , I’m not suggesting we should flood our bench with youngsters, but if the opportunity arises for the right player to make his PL bench debut, e.g.Gibson, Gordon, Adeniran , it creates a buzz of interest and reinforces the message to other youngsters.

Why on earth wasnt Manpala brought on there ....35 mins against 10 men Unsworth way too pragmatic
To be honest mate John, Astley and Mampala should all have been starters there, and players like Simms, Anderson, Iverson and Phillips were not even in the squad.

I think it's fair to say that we already know that well over half of those starters have absolutely zero chance of a career at Everton. We have to be giving starts to these younger players who still have a chance to develop. In fact, by not playing them we are actually reducing their chances. Most of them should already have been given more exposure last season.

It's really starting to annoy me now. I truly believed things would have been different this season but it's same old same old.

Unsworth out. Sort it Brands.

I’m not bothering watching the next televised game if that’s the sort of lineup we’re going with again. Hoping it’s just a window shopper lineup till next month.

You would have thought it would be Baningime as he has premier experience already. Watching the game the other night he strolled through the game without even breaking sweat. I guess we'll find out if his temporary disappearance from the game is down to non football matters. Because in pure footballing terms he is streets ahead of Adeniran and Markelo.

Same old Everton or same old unsworth? If it’s same old Everton after our signings I couldn’t disagree more if it’s Unsworth and his pragmatic approach I agree

I was talking about the U23s mate and Unsworth using them to further his own career as a manager rather than to develop young players to become good enough to play for the first team.

As far as I'm aware we haven't bought any new players for the under 23s. And Unsworth being pragmatic doesn't come into it. His role is to develop players for the first team. But he insists on playing lads who have no future with Everton when he should be blooding younger players who still could make it if managed properly.
