Everton Youth Teams Thread

Disappointing to read that about the game comments above. Really hoped to see a fresh approach this year... not sure if it’s cos we just holding on too long to some kids leaving him with a difficult choice or Unsworth is really focussing more on results but either way it’s holding back some players a lot!

Biggest takeout I enjoyed from the interview with Mrs France was the push for youth to be given more exposure and to move on others more than we have.

I think it's fair to say that we already know that well over half of those starters have absolutely zero chance of a career at Everton. We have to be giving starts to these younger players who still have a chance to develop. In fact, by not playing them we are actually reducing their chances. Most of them should already have been given more exposure last season.

It's really starting to annoy me now. I truly believed things would have been different this season but it's same old same old.

I’ve said on another thread that Mr. Brands, when he has time sorting out the transfer mess he was left with, should make a complete over haul of the Acadamy from the U23’s right through the full spectre of the younger players, need fresh coaches with fresh idea’s and systems of playing at these levels.

As far as I'm aware we haven't bought any new players for the under 23s. And Unsworth being pragmatic doesn't come into it. His role is to develop players for the first team. But he insists on playing lads who have no future with Everton when he should be blooding younger players who still could make it if managed properly.

It is annoying to see the same ones over and over but maybe he’s challenging the new intake to be better in training, better on the pitch than these regulars.

Even though they are younger they need to be as good if not better than the usuals to make it... maybe they don’t show that!

Sorry. Don't have anymore information than you. I'm guessing her and her husband are relatively ITK and probably mates with Kenwright and some ex-players.

Same principle though. Somebody above wanted Astley and John in the starting XI, but where? They don't both fit in without shifting out another player who is still developing. The way some of you are going on it's like the whole team was made up of 23 year olds when I think only really Connolly has properly outgrown that level.

Well Connolly played where Kyle John played so that’s an obvious swap.

Astley should partner Gibson with Feeney loaned/sold.

We’re being logical - it’s not rocket science.

OK so in February of this year, just 6 months ago, you suggested we pick this team:

Pickford
Mina Feeney Zouma
Kenny Davies Gomes Digne
Lookman
DCL Rich

So in February you wanted Feeney playing for us in the Premier League, and now it's "logical" that you want him sold? Ok mate, yeah, makes perfect sense.
