Everton Youth Teams Thread

Yeah I agree with that, but in fairness all last season when people asked about U23s able to step up the answer on here was “No one” or maybe Gibson.
I’m fed up reading about Unsworth saying there’s a big gap between u18 and U23s, and therefore not moving up our u18s faster. There clearly is a step up and some can’t make it , but his job is to bridge that gap with the talented youngsters not leave them on the side lines and waste time at a vital age.

@Barnfred 55 @Eggs

Interesting to read today that Unsworth sees Gordon as a 9 whereas Gordon says hes a 10.

Which position do you guys see him developing into, from reading on here the last couple of years i had him down as more of a wide forward lol

Also does he remind you of any other players?

Who knows Zat. He has the attributes of a number 10 but we don't really play with a number 10 in our youth set up, which is probably why he normally plays out wide. He doesn't stay out wide though as he likes to cut inside a lot. That works ok in the U18, but not so in the U23 where the full backs tend not to push forward, so we end up with no width to our game.

He effects the game more playing in the centre and I think he could play at the head of a midfield 3 in games we would expect to control the ball. But I couldn't see Unsworth playing him there as he doesn't have the defensive side to his game to play in one of his midfield threes. Which basically leaves number 9.

For me, he is still too slight to play that role in open age, but he may fill out more as he gets older.

For me, need a mixture of younger players and players with a some experience at U23 level

You want the young players with potential to come through, but you don’t want to get relegated and potentially play against worse teams in Division 2.

Any info on Zan-Luk Leban or Mohamed Ali-Cho ?

Cheers for that ;) Hopefully he keeps developing and gets in the 1st team squad over the next couple of seasons.

I imagined him as a left sided forward like the position Richarlison started at with us last seaaon. Could be a great benefit if he could play there and at 9 and 10 as it would give Silva more options to give him a chance over the next couple of seasons.

Will be interesting to learn where he could make a position his own and ideal for us it both he and Gibson can become 1st team options.

In 3 seasons time when some of our established players like Digne / Keane are hitting 28/29 with others like Iwobi/Richarlison/Gbamin at 24/25 we will need another rung coming up underneath around 21/22.

Even if they are just good squad/rotation options then it helps with the culture, homegrown ratio and enables us to spend money on 2 or 3 stars rather than squad fillers.

Got that Mohamed Ali from PSG. Supposed to highly rated.
Someone posted a brief video of ali-cho couple of weeks back, seemed fairly skilful but as raw as you'd expect from a 15 Yr old

Was going to write, Ali-Cho from PSG (as above) surely quite an interesting one and i think Leban is from Warsaw??

I posted on here a couple of times about 16 year old danish centre back Kristensen...not read anything about him so far...

You also asked who he was like Zat. difficult one really but he's a bit like Foden in style, but nowhere near as advanced as him development wise.

For me number 10 would suit him best or at the head if a midfield 3 when we expect to dominate possession as I said.

This u16s tournament came up on here a few weeks ago mate, Youth Hawk are a bit late it’s finished! Mohamed Ali Cho has been with us since he was about 12, he’s come up on here a few times over the years as he’s played u15 for England possibly under age. Eligible for France as well as England , not sure which parent, but has opted for England . Cho started in the first game against Denmark which England won 2-0, and was on the bench against Ireland, 3-3 draw. Not sure how much game time he had but he wasn’t a scorer.

The Youth Hawk Scholars list is missing Daniel Lowey , a left back , there’s a list on the OS but no pictures yet, it doesn’t include Kristensen but does include some Schoolboys who’ve been involved at u18 but are not Scholars yet, Reece , Rose and Kouyate.
