Everton Youth Teams Thread

Hard to do more than shrug your shoulders at that game tonight. City played as their first team play in terms of passing, tactics , skill. I really don’t know who we were modelled on , ive never seen a team play with two wide forwards and nobody in the middle of attack . As a result we had no outlet and they just dominated the midfield, although they had the better players and were by far the better team . The difference was noticeable when Simms came on , Adeniran started to get on the ball firing in a cracking shot after Simms held up the ball for him to shoot. The goal came from the resulting corner. Tyrer was our best player and memorable for my first seeing of Jayden Braaf.
Thanks for your short report, hard to make out why they lined up as they did.

3rd placed Everton u18s 9 points off top with 2 games in hand are back in action 11.30am in the 1st of 3 away u18s league games in a row tomorrow, they play away to 6th placed west brom who are a little touch out of form [knowing our luck till they play us lol] but have been quite decent at home recently, Everton have a very good record v west brom winning 7 from last 9 games v them and scoring at least 3 goals a game in 8 of the last 9 [or 11 from last 14], Everton's only defeat in recent times was that 4-3 FA CUP u18s game last year

Braaf looked good? Leipzig possibly signing him in the Summer.
Just seen your ?, answer is yes.Fast , tricky played on left wing , scores with his right , gave Kyle John a right roasting all night with his electric pace and trickery. Only 17 , Dutch U17s international, apparently signed a long term contract with City so can’t see why he’d go elsewhere yet except on a loan deal. Sure Pep would say “stick with me and I’ll turn you into the next Raheem Stirling”

Jarrad Branthwaite netted his first Everton goal but a disappointed David Unsworth admitted his side could have no complaints after they were beaten 4-1 at Manchester City.

Branthwaite, signed from Carlisle United earlier this month, nodded in late on at Academy Stadium with the Blues already four goals behind.

The result leaves Everton seventh in the Premier League 2 table after their first defeat in five games in the competition.

“We were beaten by the better team,” Unsworth conceded. “We had a plan that was working but then we went a goal down and, before we knew it, we were out of the game.

“We were poor tonight and, ironically, the only one who came out of the game with any credit was our goalkeeper, Harry Tyrer, who was terrific.

“Everyone else was below their normal standard. When you come to Manchester City, you know that if you are not at your best then you’ll be in for a tough night.”

A Toffees line-up stripped of most of its experienced players just couldn’t cope with the hosts and 17-year-old Dutch striker Jayden Braaf was the tormentor-in-chief.

He was outstanding for City, scoring twice and looking a real threat every time he got the ball. Three times in the first half alone he got goalside of the Everton rearguard to test Tyrer.

The opening goal came on 28 minutes.

After clearing a City corner, the ball came back into the Everton box and when Branthwaite's defensive header fell to the feet of Felix Nmecha, he picked his spot beautifully.

Everton had their moments in the first period.

Great play by Seb Quirk on the left set up Dennis Adeniran in the penalty area but the midfielder scuffed his effort wide. Then, in stoppage time, Ryan Astley’s header beat the City keeper but was cleared off the line by Nmecha.

Braaf was a thorn in Everton’s side all evening and thoroughly deserved the stunning goal he scored just before the hour mark. He evaded two challenges outside the box before crashing an unstoppable shot past Tyrer.

Adrian Bernabe got the third when he placed a neat finish into the net after yet another penetrating run by Braaf.

Braaf helped himself to a second goal, and City’s fourth, when he ran through soon after to slide a low shot under Tyrer.

Everton’s consolation came eight minutes from time when Adeniran’s well-flighted corner was headed home by 17-year-old Branthwaite for his maiden goal for the Club.

The Under-23s next face a trip to Plymouth Argyle in the Premier League Cup on Monday 10 February

Unless he’s seen Sancho and then seen Foden and thought there are better options? No idea if he will move of course but he sounds a promising player.

Surely the Robinson deal is an alarm bell that we need to give these younger players a chance! Now more then ever in a dead rubber season. I don’t understand why we play the likes of Morgan when he clearly doesn’t care about Everton over the likes of Gordon? So many big teams this year giving youth a chance and yes they’re not doing so well but it takes time and in the long term they will all benefit

I don’t understand a single bit of this post.

“Surely a has-been Italian team trying to sign an ex-not good enough for Everton full-back means we should play our not ready kids”

“why are we still playing Schneiderlin when we have a young lad of a completely different position on the bench?

“why aren’t we copying other teams playing young players even though I admit they’re not playing well”
