Everton Youth Teams Thread

We looked like a bunch of individuals with no teamwork, particularly in midfield. Sadly Beni looks like he’s gone backwards, Iversen flitted in and out at least Onyango was getting about a bit. Branthwaite has come on so much from his u23 debut in January, the pick of the bunch tonight.

We need to sell mina on ASAP to open up more opportunities for Branthwaite, doing him no favours being stuck playing u23 football.

Thiery Small, young left back. According to BBC football rumour there’s a host of big clubs after him, Bayern and Juventus amongst them.
I don’t take much notice of the youth teams, must show something though.

I was thinking it was chelsea, but then talked myself out of it,so still dont know lol, but i will go with you lol
The away game at chelsea was bad as well, Chelsea tried to play football , we just had loads of big lads trying to get a result.
Cant recall who was the commentator for Chelsea tv but he remarked , he didnt think the way we played was really good for the young players to express themselves.

....unimpressive and only Branthwaite suggested he was capable of being anywhere near a step up. I thought he played particularly well.

Simms comes alive when the ball is behind the opposition back four and particularly alert in the box but he failed to lead the line and wasn’t competitive when his team most needed it. Small was ordinary and often wasteful in possession, his retention of the ball has to really improve.

Hughes and Iverson showed nice touches but not enough to boss the game which is what they need to be doing at this level.

Thought Braithwaite was decent last night, but with Godfrey, Holgate, Keane and Mina in front of him is there any chances for him ? If not, he should deffo go to a Prem League club.

I think he might need a loan but Simms style of play is similar enough to DCL that he could make a handy backup.

...I suggest he watches DCL closely because Simms does nowhere enough in leading the line like DCL does. Watching him in a game like that makes you realise why he’s nowhere near being a first team back-up.

He certainly doesn’t pass my ‘opposition bus test’. I think of the opposition CBs on the bus going home and wonder if they talk about what a stern test they‘ve just had. I doubt the West Ham defenders gave much thought to Simms, he needs to be making things much more difficult for them.

...I thought he was easily the best player. I think he’s highly rated and he could leapfrog Mina and even Holgate in the pecking order over the next few seasons. Very possibly one for the future.

Branthwaite another who really should be looking to go out on loan. I reckon he would have gone in October if not for his injury. Too good to play u23 football but not quite ready for regular PL football. I think he will get there in time if we give him the right experience.
