Everton Youth Teams Thread

Lamptey is better than Kenny though. They've done well with those players, just as we've done well with Davies, Holgate, Godfrey, DCL, Richarlison etc.

It just feels a bit odd to me, thats all mate.
Lamptey is obviously better now amd Kennys ship has long since sailed but Kenny had the better youth career and was the England U21 right back ahead of TAA and AWB for a long time. I'm not saying he should be a prem player but the club couldve backed him a bit more given the Martina and Sidibe deals. Not that I think that would've mattered with Kenny anyhow but I think no matter which RB we had at the time they wouldn't have made it.

We don't know what evertons pathway is that they've laid out, we're generally very good when youngsters stay at the club and around the first team, it all starts to go a bit wrong once loans get involved. If a loan was our plan I'd rather be at Brighton, if its some way of getting him around the first team despite being fourth choice atm I'd rather be at us.The only loan we have got right recently was Holgate and even then we were set to sell him if we got Zouma back.

Kenny is 2 years older than TAA who basically went straight to the seniors

He is but he's technically only one given internationals go on years rather than school groups as far as I'm aware. And whenever he played up before moving to seniors he tended to have been behind JJK. I'm not saying he was ever even better just that's how England saw it

Quick question... are all teams after U18s a waste of time (at top level)? Whats the pros and cons after that for both player and club?
I havent thought it through in much detail but it seems that less players are breaking through nowadays and too many waste years in B teams before finally admitting defeat and dropping down 1-2 divisions, by which time theyre not 'tough' enough to deal with the different style of football and then disappear. Would it not be better for 19 year olds to drop to div 1/2 clubs straightaway and fight there way back?

I think that's just your opinion with no evidence?
If you look at the England under age teams all the way up to senior they have as much talent to call on as any country in the world.

No, as i said, i havent thought it through to any great degree, hence why i asked it as a question. Its not about U12-18s, but that next step.
What are the pros/cons of prem teams having U23 teams?
Is it as much to give 1st teamers some game time coming back from injury?
Are they actually thinking a 22 year old who hasnt been frequently in the first team squad has still a chance of breaking through?
Thats what im asking, for both players and club, whats the point?
