Everton Youth Teams Thread

In the group shot you can see Armstrong at the back, presumably training with the 18s in preparation for the youth cup game next week.

On the far left, I think that's our first sighting of Sean McAllister this season.

I like the Armstrong/ Harvey Foster combination in the youth cup , Foster has grown on me this season he’s stepped up his game a lot . He scored a cracking free kick goal in the 2-1 defeat by Stoke , hopefully he gets some u21 mins to get a better assessment of his potential as a 6/8.

…..does there seem a reluctance to step u18 into u21 squad? Might be a strategic thing to keep them in their own age group.

I don’t think so , well not since Unsworth’s reluctance and his “ it’s a big step up to u21s” anyway. While it is true that not everyone from the u18s will be ready to step up to u21s , the best ones will be . At his time of year they’ll have started to form opinions eg who at u21 should go out in loan freeing up space, who at u18 is ready to move up to u21, who won’t be given a new contract , which u16s are ready for more games as u18s move up or out. Tis the Circle of Life. While there’ll always be some like Tom Cannon who buck the trend , by and large u16s and u18s playing up early will be the first indicators of “ potential “.

U18s leading Sunderland 2-1at half time after coming back from a goal down . Ceiran Loney , our ginger ninja getting both goals , with the second being a magical Weasley Twins production ,” a brilliant lofted ball over the backline from Braiden Graham and Ceiran times his run to perfection, side-footing it on the half-volley past Metcalf.”

Thomas has already moved up from the summer for example.
