Be surprised if not changes, we then play again monday, We are basically playing Monday/Friday or Tuesday/Friday the next few weeks all comps

Problem we have is most of u18s are already in the squad plus they'll play day after. Then fringe first teamers will likely play in EFL Cup. Maybe a chance for Hughes, Hunt, Kristiensen and Hagan. Also Garcia and Quirk who weren't in the squad. Don't want to burn these lads out. However I want to see us competing in as many games as possible.

Good keeping by Leban coming out there

I like this kid in goal, keeps his concentration and anticipates quite a lot of moves, added to his agility on the floor, kept us in the two games v Man. City and Chelsea in the FA youth cup last season.

Must be embarrassing sometimes for these EFL clubs losing to mostly youth sides, just in these opening games alone you’ve had

Scunthorpe battered by City’s U21s
Wycombe (a Championship side last year) beaten by Villa’s
Stevenage losing a 7 goal thriller to Spurs’
Wigan (a PL side 8 years ago) beaten by Wolves’ on pens
Exeter beaten by Chelsea’s on pens
Ipswich being held by West Ham’s so far

Perhaps we underate the quality of the u23 league?

You have to say the players in the last two games have earned the right to play , the amount of game time obviously needs managing though. Reality is we don’t have that many vying for starting positions , maybe Mallon at right back and Hughes in midfield. I’m presuming John and Quirk are injured. Metcalfe is the most likely to step up from the u18 s , and I could see that happening although Price and Butterfield are showing lots of energy and commitment.
I d give MOM to Astley or Anderson, but Charlie Whitaker was also outstanding with his energy throughout , playing in three different roles , he‘s getting better and better.

They don't usually put out their 1st team players, there was a lot of squad players playing for Morecombe tonight I think

Hes 18/19 first year Pro. He's an attacking midfielder who can also play out wide. Northern Irish youth player. Joined the club as a 16 yo in Summer 2019. Mainly played in u18s last 2 season.

Hassenhutl did an interview last week (I think) saying that he won’t feature until he gets up to speed in training because he obviously didn’t train with us.

He’ll go straight onto their bench when fit.

I take offence to a 17 yr old who's done nothing in the game turning his nose up at playing for a giant of a club like ours because he thinks he's good enough to be in a PL sides starting 11 and not have to earn his stripes first.

Massive ego and a money grabbing agent.
