Everton Youth Teams Thread

Hassenhutl did an interview last week (I think) saying that he won’t feature until he gets up to speed in training because he obviously didn’t train with us.

He’ll go straight onto their bench when fit.
I’m surprised that Hassenhutl would guarantee that, they’ve got two decent full backs that they’ve bought in, and usually on the bench is Kyle Walker-Peters who can play both full back positions .

I take offence to a 17 yr old who's done nothing in the game turning his nose up at playing for a giant of a club like ours because he thinks he's good enough to be in a PL sides starting 11 and not have to earn his stripes first.

Massive ego and a money grabbing agent.
He joined Southampton. If it was a money grabbing agent then he would've joined a bigger side or even stayed here. Tons of 17 year olds turn their nose up on us there's no need to be so upset and find reasons to be offended about a child moving on

No Quintyne in the video/mentioned on the site? Anything more to it?
I think it’s just cos we‘re crap at introducing the Scholars.

Yeah he’s not in the players listed, and although in the official video Roman Quintyne is not introducing himself he’s in the Group Photo at the end. He’s been out injured for a few weeks and is number 65 with cast / boot thingy on his left leg. The other guy with a cast in his right leg is Saja Manafa. I could be wrong though.

We seem to have also made a hash of that final photo . No Shae Cahill or Charlie Wilson in it . But Dylan Graham the goalkeeper who was shown as 59 throughout the video now has the 63 in the photo . I believe that 59 in the final photo ( Not the one where they are waving certificates) is new signing Francis Okoronkwo, it looks like him , he’s taller than Jack Tierney who he’s standing next to and is supposedly 6ft 3 in.
As said earlier, I could be wrong and am happy to be corrected. My original statement is right though - we are crap at introducing our new Scholars.
P.S It appears we have another left back in Harry Wright.

Yeah 59 is Okoronkwo it seems, as seen in photo Quintyne is injured, strange how there’s no mention of them though, even thought they’re in the photo. Goes back to what you said in that Everton are rubbish at introducing scholars

I put a list on here a couple of months ago of the new Scholars, the official list given is:
Everton's 2021/22 Academy scholars are:

Ed Jones (Defender)
Harry Wright (Defender)
Charlie Wilson (Defender)
Jenson Metcalfe (Midfielder)
Jack Tierney (Defender)
Saja Manafa (Midfielder)
Troy Smikle-James (Forward)
Owen Barker (Forward)
Dylan Graham (Goalkeeper)
Halid Djankpata (Midfielder)
Sam Coughlan (Midfielder)
Isaac Heath (Midfielder)
Shae Cahill (Midfielder)

To which I believe we can add:
Roman Quintyne right back
Francis Okoronkwo forward.

There’s nothing there that you know to be true, you’ve just made the lot of it up in your head.

If you’d have put a full stop after ours and left it at that, it would’ve been factually correct. That’s about it.

If Small wanted to show his worth he goes out on loan this season, smashes it then depending on what happens with Nkounkou he could have been on the bench next season as Dignes back up playing in the cup comps.

But instead he wants to be an instant PL player at age 17 without having to actually earn it. Look at players like Braithwaite and Gordon who have gone out on loan to try force their way into the squad.

Places on the bench with Premiership clubs are not so easily won.
Every player on the bench is a potential match winner... or should be.
If Southampton are picking their team and bench on anything other than merit then the Championship beckons.
Probably quite easily won actually considering already, 4 games in to the season, we have already once not named a full allocation on the bench and still included 2 keepers on it.

Southampton have named Valery on the bench every game despite having KWP and Livramento named in each squad. Valery has had diminishing appearances season on season including getting shipped to Birmingham last year. Makes sense to me to name one rb and one lb rather than 2 rbs. Which would be picking on positional merit
