Im a bit surprised weve not paired Branthwaite and Welch in defence. Surely the idea is for them to 'eventually' become 3rd/4th choices at centre back for the first team and then see how they progress from there?
If they developed a partnership at u23s then id imagine it would stand them in good stead...
