Everton Youth Teams Thread

Looks like nash has left also
You need a spread sheet to track all our goalkeepers. So if Nash and Stewart have left that leaves Tyrer, Crellin , Barrett, Leban at u21 with you’d hope Tyrer going on loan leaving Crellin No1.
At u18 I think we’ve only got Dylan Graham from last year but potentially three goalkeepers coming up in Seb Jensen and George Pickford as new scholars (?) with the highly rated 14/15 year old Doug Lukjanciks with the u16 . I’ve got a feeling we’ve brought in at least one young goalkeeper that I’ve missed , someone will put me right!

It's a very bold choice but fair play. Pickford played his way up through the leagues so there's definitely arguments to do it.

Hard to argue with any youth goalkeeper leaving us either. Who was the last one to even look like breaking through? Ruddy?

What club is he going to?
Campos isn't a coach anywhere I don't think
It’s not clear that he’s got anything lined up, just seems to be backing himself to succeed
@themoderndaygk
“Pat wanted a guarantee of a loan move to a men’s team for the new season, but the club were not able to do this. They didn’t seem to see the value of a loan move as much as we did. They also offered incentives for playing u23 football rather gaining proper experience.”

Its a bold move for an 18 year old , 6 foot goalkeeper who is apparently technically gifted . While you can’t argue with wanting a loan move the reality is very few teams are likely to give a young, and inexperienced GK a chance, a few mistakes and they’re dropped , we saw that with Virginia.

its behind a paywall but the photo says signed 3 year pro deal which i find hard to believe, surely 2 years scholarship with 1 year pro guaranteed.

I guess that’s what we have to do ( offer pro deals) to attract talented youngsters in as Scholars. But if you break it down , it’s not an outrageous commitment by the club if they deem he’s got the potential. He’s 17 in October so presumably will sign his pro deal then , 3 years takes him up to June 25. A two year Scholarship with guaranteed 1 year pro deal also takes him up to June 25. Ok it’ll cost us more , but if we’re investing additional money into attracting and keeping young talent I’m all for it.

I'm admittedly not an expert on this but my understanding is a Scholarship isn't legally binding(?) In that they can choose to leave without the pro deal. So if we think this kid has what it takes the pro deal protects us more.

…back in my time the best talent were offered apprenticeships with a guaranteed pro contract to follow.

Well I’m well and truly confused with all these new roles . I’m taking that as a demotion from his role as Head of Academy coaching , according to the original job advert Paul Tait as u21 Coach would report to Ebbrell. So is Player Development Senior Coach better than “ Player Development Lead Coach” which we are also looking for? Or maybe that’s Ebbrell’s role now , can’t see why we would create two new posts , one a” Senior” the other a “ Lead” .

Pure speculation on my part , but if we really are going to recruit a new Head of Academy Coaching to replace Ebbrell then Thelwell will very likely have a candidate in mind, maybe someone who popped up in the recent recruitment process.

These are the post out there “ Everton will now look to recruit a new Head of Academy Coaching, with the positions of Player Development Lead Coach, Loan Pathways Manager and Head of Performance Analysis and Insights also to be appointed.”

All will be clear one day I’m sure.

Seen this. Small's move hasnt gone the way he wanted has it? Thought he was good enough for first team football.

On another note, what fee did we get or are we waiting on a tribunal?
