…I think that’s unfair. Unsworth won a PL2 title in his time. It’s too easy to blame him for the lack of talent coming through when the problem is much bigger.
Winning a PL2 title is irrelevant if none of the players are able to make the step up into the first team. None of which did I believe; we also invested a lot of money into that team, Bowler cost over a million for example. They weren’t developed properly imo
A very impressive first half in terms of style, commitment, pressing from them all, it looks like all the younger ones have stepped up a bit from last season. Loving their press and seeing Campbell heading the ball and gathering it on the half way line .
Enjoyed that half. Cannon, Warrington, John and McAllister all playing pretty well for me.
Leban in goal looks as wobbly as last time I saw him though. We've been a bit spoiled with having Tyrer and Virginia for the last few years really.
As for my earlier comment about shapes. I'm actually not too bothered. I'd rather us play whatever shape gets our high potential players on the pitch together but there is an argument for consistency of shape through the age levels easing the transition to first team. Perhaps that's still a long term goal or perhaps it is just certain elements of play we want to dictate rather than a rigid system. Who knows!

Kyle John is having a really good game and Anderson is as always impressive (for me usually more so at centre half than the touted Welch and Campbell).

No, obviously the structures within the club were very poor that's evident. That comes from the top.
But, I don't think he did a good job at all, we've not had many players be integrated into the senior team, and we've not been able to sell many for decent money
