Nwaneri is Arsenal’s prized asset at this age level, already their youngest PL player and lots of rumours about whether they can hold onto him.
I think everyone and their dog know by now that Plymouth are managed by Steve Schumacher, but I also just saw that Plymouth's DOF is Neil Dewsnip who was working for a long time in our academy back in the day.Lewis Gibson (listed on Wikipedia as being 6 foot 1 now) played the full match last night for Bristol Rovers. They had (ex Everton Youth) Anthony Evans sent off early on and lost 2-0 to leaders Plymouth.

Blimey I remember the Doherty transfer. Didn't work out for him unfortunately but I can remember that move made some waves at the time.…yep, something I highlighted on here some time back.
i think Schumacher was at Cardinal Heenan School when Dewsnip taught there. Schumacher, Welsh and Alan Moogan were in the same year and all played for England Schoolboys which was some achievement.
I went to watch the school team when Dewsnip managed them. Sean Doherty (England schoolboy, son of Mick Doherty, went to Fulham from Everton & played for Sligo with Coleman) and James McClevely (Blackburn & Scotland) were in that school team. He was a very enlightened coach, ended up in the England set up & would’ve been a fine choice for DoF here.
Everton have finally released the team sheet for this game: https://www.evertonfc.com/match/79373/newcastle-u18-everton-u18#lineupsWho scored what/when from the for whatever reason quietly kept top serect u18s game it seemd like lol
Everton Under-18s came from behind to record a 1-1 draw with Newcastle United at the Magpies' training ground on Saturday.
The hosts took a first-half lead when a low cross was converted from close-range following a sweeping move down the left flank.
But Leighton Baines' young Blues rallied and equalised via the penalty spot shortly after the half-time interval, as Jacob Beaumont-Clark confidently tucked home from 12 yards despite the Newcastle goalkeeper guessing the right way.
That’s a very young team , despite no schoolboys starting. In the starting 11 all except Ed Jones are first year scholars , 3 schoolboys and a first year on the bench too. I haven’t kept a track of which u18s have pro contracts but you’d expect those second years who haven’t made an impact at u21 yet to be moving on unless they were promised a pro contract as part of their Scholarship.Everton have finally released the team sheet for this game: https://www.evertonfc.com/match/79373/newcastle-u18-everton-u18#lineups

OSS Maher Jones Butler
Bates Patterson Apter
Beaumont-Clark Sherif Ebere
Moonan came on for OSS and Armstrong on for Bates on 71 mins.
Take with a slight pinch of salt though as they have OSS playing in the Boro game too when we know it was ISS.
It is interesting how we all see things differently, it makes this such a good thread with differing opinions. I’m closer to you re ISS, and see the things that you mentioned. I watched him closely last night , he was composed, showed good judgement knowing when to move forward to make an interception, his body shape was good when the guy was attacking him , his tackling and recovery were good too , indeed his tackle was the last touch of the match. I was impressed with his concentration for one so young, often youngsters switch off in the second half as they get tired but he didn’t. He has a mature reading of the play, even PL full backs will be beaten by speedy wingers at times and need help from other defenders, I thought he ensured that if he was beaten their player wasn’t offered a clear route to goal. There were of course mistakes and areas to work on, he’s still very much a work in progress, I certainly don’t see him as a regular first team squad member next season.
Where he ends up playing is the question. I’ve been impressed with him as the left centre back in a three when playing for England, he’s ideal there but that limits his options. He doesn’t have the physical build of a Branthwaite yet to be a CB in a four, or the pace of a Dixon as a full back. At 16 though he‘s got time to grow. Like @EFC_FRANCIS I was comparing him with Lewis Gibson who got shunted out of the England squad by more physically powerful defenders, but ISS is a player we really should be developing . Maybe we shouldn’t be stereotyping our players into “ full backs must have lots of pace, CBs must be huge”, look at what City do with the likes of Rico Lewis.
Dunno. He’s only 16, it‘s all interesting speculation as to his best position, just got to let the coaches do their job and for ISS to develop the attributes a youngster needs to make the step up to successful full time men’s football. A long way to go yet.Could he play as a defensive midfielder?
The first couple of games I watched him this season was for the 18s at left cb, looked an absolute rolls royce and reminded me of a young Rio Ferdinand stepping out with the ball breaking into midfield. Left footed cbs especially with composure and technical ability like his are few and far between. Still a lot of maturing to do body wise but to me hes the kind of cb that wont need to be a 6ft 4 machine, he`s a Rio/Des Walker/Paul Mcgrath footballing cb that reads the game so well. Stood out like a sore thumb in those games. It is interesting how we all see things differently, it makes this such a good thread with differing opinions.
