Everton Youth Teams Thread

are you talking about whitaker?
he was looking good 3-4 years ago and training with the first team before all his injury problems of the last few years so not really recency bias.
Maybe I was being a bit harsh. Thinking back 2-3 years ago or so though, there were easily 4-5 names that were ahead of him on the depth chart for midfield (Warrington, Price, Onyango, Mills, Dobbin, etc) that I think we would all have agreed had a better chance of making it to the PL and sticking. Again, not saying he’s not talented, but has really only started producing in the past few months, and I think is probably destined for a L1 move once his contract ends. I genuinely hope he proves me wrong though!

it was his injury problems that done his chance in

Hmmmmm, i'm not to sure on that.

I don't think a parent will look at there 9 year old son being courted by Everton, Liverpool & Man Utd and think.............he can become Callum Connelly
Its almost like there's more to football than u9s level. We should be interested because agents will put a lot of weight into it. As would parents. As would the players themselves.

Its also basic human decency thing. It impacts us pretty much 0 whether Whitaker is sat on the bench or at u21 level because he isn't making it at us either way. Nor would he get on the pitch if he was on the bench. On a human level why wouldn't the club want to do right by a player? We should just purposefully sabotage a 21 year olds career just because?

What a weird post. Yes Callum Connelly joined us at 9 ,and although he only managed one first team appearance he was one of the most versatile players ever in our Academy and played in all the England teams from u17 -u21. The way he was developed in our Academy, the number of positions he played and his character are for me a testament to him and the club, we’ve had far more talented players than him who achieved far less .

Tyler Onyango has converted into a roving right back during his loan spell at Stockport County and after a shaky start is starting to play into the a regular first team slot. Worth keeping an eye on his performances.

I think @Mikey_Fitzgerald watched Stockport at the weekend and said he was the best player on the pitch (at the time)

From an infra sqaud friendly today apparently. Love to see it.

Fantastic to see them getting all the goals.
Do you know much about Freddie Murdoch? I’m aware he’s been playing for N Ireland u16s , has he been signed recently or with us a few years?

Edit: Apparently another Everton player was part of the England u15 training, Levi Okorie , but I can’t confirm that .
