Everton Youth Teams Thread

For me Justin Clarke is at exactly the place on the path he should be as a talented first year scholar . I’m not having a pop here, but your “ From reports I was expecting ….” sums up how most people’s view the youngsters , read the reports, watch a few 90 sec clips = instant opinion. In Clarke’s case he exploded on the scene with some excellent goals and a great turn of pace. Watch him for a full game and you could see how talented but raw he is , often running down blind alleys and perhaps more importantly failing to get his head up and be aware of the players around him in a better position for him to pass to. Forget about their positions and style, but for me one thing that distinguishes Graham and Armstrong is their awareness of what’s going on around them and where other players are. You can’t train the natural talent Clarke has but hopefully they can work on his weaknesses . Starting and playing more in the u21s is a good target for the rest of the season for him.

Appreciate the overview ;)

Impossible to get done for fraudulent signings if you take a 5 year sabbatical from signing anyone. Big brain thinking from the club.

I read an article recently about a number of Cameroon born young players having suspicious DoBs and ending up at English academies, it suggested that this was quite rife amongst their agents to get them clubs.
I do find it hard to understand how United are allowed to approach and then poach young Arsenal players and the RS players from Chelsea and Leicester without breaking any rules even if compensation is paid.

Cameroon is known for it, theyre constantly faking ages. Its very easy to be just stereotypes but the noise surrounding Moukoko at Dortmund has been there for about 5 years and never gone away.

Another player called Silas (not cameroonian) had not only a fake age but a fake name created by his agent in order to make it.

It's apparently one of the two Manchester clubs in trouble without wildly speculating.

Agree on the latter point, just seems completely the accepted and done thing though I know Chelsea took losing Ngumoah and Mcaidoo really personally this summer. They've banned visiting scouts from attending games and everything. Makes me wonder just how egregious we were to be the only team ever actually done for tapping up.

So you're telling me that on the eve of letting city off with all of their charges, the premier league are publicly looking into the other major clubs on a charge they will have know about for a while. Lovely mafia stuff right there.

The age issue isn’t confined to Cameroon and it isn’t always fraud. In Nigeria you have to pay to register a birth and the fine for not doing so is the equivalent of less than a pound. Many people still don’t bother registering births for years. There’s a move in African academies to start x-raying wrists as apparently that’s a good physical indicator of age.
